bug?

Is it just me or is it a bug? I manually done some missions in version 26960 and got nothing but plasma pistols for 2 missions, nothing else, just plasma pistols. And the corpses.

EDIT: I would also like to add, how do I build UFO hangars? The wiki says their basic, but I can't see them on the command screen.

And are the medics removed?

Medics were removed, Hospital works automatically.
UFO Hangars got removed too, build off-site UFO Yard(s) instead. Each UFO Yard can hold 6 UFOs (of any size).

About gathered items, I don't know what is the problem there. IF it's early the game they have plasma pistols..

well, I played 2.2 and they have other decent weapons in the beginning, take the armor for example, and its not THAT early in the game actually.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure some of them carry armor, currently I got pistols and kerrblades.

OT: do you have any tips on building my UFO yard safely? I have no match against the space ships, I need more upgrades, but then I need UFO yards, and then it would defeat the purpose O.o

We have reworked the campaign system since then. It's a bit slower now. Also armours which doesn't fit in the current research tree (yet, missing requirement techs) got disabled in campaign.

Build your UFO Yard next to a base and put (and equip) base defences to the base or build (and equip) SAM sites around your UFO Yard(s).

EDIT: Also, I now see aliens carrying guns that can auto fire, are they still pistols? I can't seem to get anything other than pistols.

No, they aren't. They just got better prerequisites.
