sorry basically a screen opens with a red border and what looks like a loading box runining alone the bnottom and then nothing. Also this is in the terminal

show the problem quite well. Where are the images? How did you install it (from .run installer, deb package, etc)?

On the start it tells you which dir it's using for data:

Usually it uses more, at least one other than userdir.

i downloaded the .run file,

 SSOOOOO what do i do now, do i need to redownload it?  Is there a package i can get with a click of the button (i use ubuntu and i love it when i can just hit the install button and it does it all for me)

Did you install it as root (admin)?
The game should have installed somewhere /usr/games/ufoai or /usr/local/games/ufoai not sure I don't use that installer. You should run the game with the shellscript provided not the binary (ELF) itself (the shellscript changes to the directory it needs to be run from IIRC).

PS. Last time I downloaded that package I had no problems. Installed as root (as it was asked) and ran fine. It isn't complicated at all.

Still no luck,
 After trying again i deleted the file and re-installed the game
Then loaded terminal,
then tryed to run game
No luck

Eh, You should read some How to use Linux docs....

For permission:

(I assume that partition is mounted with exec permission.)

And I told you to run it as root.

 Thanks , I am trying to find the time to do that but with doing a apprenticeship , Renovating a house, loosing weight, raising a child and having a ungrateful wife all at once my one on one time with my quadcore PC is very limited.  I do appreciate all your help but still no success, downloading windows version now , At least on that os i know what im doing  (for the most part lol) .

Where this /home/luke/desktop/ufoai/ufo.x86_64 stuff (symlink?) points to?
What happens if you simply run ufo?
