For one thing you lose money that way. Selling profits are always below the production costs.

I have been thinking about this point BTAxis mentioned.

If u r reasearching a technology tat is more powerful than all the adv tech in the world, make a breakthru, made a weapon out of it - the only ones able to penetrate those baddass, would not governments from all around the world wanna get it from u (even if its exhorbitant) to protect themselves whilst waiting for PHALANX to work out the BIG PLAN?

I thnk they would, hence the justifications for the 'profit' vs cost..... for all u know, there might even be competitions for the limited amt produced (thus creating a MARKET for it, even a bidding system??)

How does my logic and reasoning sounds? Convincing? :P

That's a realism argument. My take is a gameplay one: if you can sell above the production price you can make "factory bases" that do nothing but mass-produce items for profit. That's not the way the player is supposed to make money in this game.
