...and...

http://www.destructavator.com/public/UFO_AirC_3_19.ogg

I know I've been upgrading my setup and updating the guitars a number of times, I think I've just about got the lead guitar sound that I want now, with the right tone, and I've managed to do it now without over-adjusting with too much EQ to correct bad settings in other parts of the guitar FX patches (in my DAW).  Guitar amp modeling is, after all, a complex task that takes a lot of work to make it so it sounds good and close to the real thing.

Pending Winter's approval, if these two work then I'd say go ahead and commit them, and I won't re-work them again, calling them finished (finally!), and I'll then also upload the updated source project files, as before.  Then I can work on the other track, the one with the menacing synth in it, and get that one re-worked consistent with these ones.

The "...3_19" also has a new little surprise in it to break up monotony.  If it doesn't work though, I can change it back quite easily.

Big improvement on the solos there, excellent work, but the rhythm sections seem somehow underpowered now. They lack the fullness of the earlier tracks.

Yes! I'm sold on this one in every way. It just plain works.

OK, first off, I'd say go ahead and commit the "...3_19" that works.

That being done, I"m not exactly sure what you mean when you're talking about the "rhythm" part of the other one - Are you referring to the short, repetitive electronic synth noise (that starts right away before the guitars come in, and continues through most of the track), or parts of the guitar tracks?  The former (the synth) is very easy to fix, if its the latter I'd need to know more specifically which guitar parts (the starting melody guitar lead, the double-leads, the other part that used to be where the deep, throaty riff was, etc.)

These are updated replacements for existing songs which I think sound (and loop) much better than the originals, as well as using the new CC license that is more liberal and allows for almost any use.

As shown in the details in this thread, the "...3_19" is ready, the other one will be ready once Winter gets some rest and has time for him and I to work out a few details with touching it up/fixing it.

To be honest, I forget which filename the "...3_19" one replaces, but I can find out in a short bit...

Edit: Found it, looks like the approved one replaces "David05.ogg"

Edit (2): BTW, I also have some new tracks I've started, but I really want to finish re-making the old ones first - especially the "David01.ogg" and "David02.ogg" as they are very old and don't sound as good as my newer stuff.

Right, to clarify . . .

The main guitar riff running all throughout, the first instance of which runs from 0:06 to 0:32, lacks force. You've produced a really clear and clean sound which works in other parts of the track, but here it's too clean and clear, not filling up enough soundspace with distortion and other effects.

I hope that makes sense, mate.

Winter

OK, yes that makes sense.  No problem, I'll get to work on it then get back to you - it's just starting to get late where I am, but I should be able to get it fixed soon, either tonight or tomorrow.

How's this?

Grade A, top work! This is really professional stuff.

Slightly off-the-wall question, are you any good at traditional medieval compositions? Just wondering . . .

Winter
