Alien bases?

Hello, new to the game and loving it so far!  :)
Do the aliens establish bases on Earth in the game?  If so, how does one detect them?

which version are you playing? i think (but i might be wrong) 2.2.1 didn't have alienbases - 2.3-dev has.

Playing 2.2.1 - I will look into installing 2.3 - thanks

Cool thing, cant wait to test the new build just to see how aliens behave in their little alien hideouts when I raid them  >:)
