I think it's a good idea, but I really don't like how you added the need for third party software. It's getting to be that whatever you want to do requires you do download additional tools, and that's Bad(tm).

Hi BTAxis,

I know how additional 3rd party software meant more configurations.... eg we already use CB, NSIS or even T-SVN for most windows users.

Why not a MD5 checker?

If concerned, Microsoft seemed to have suggested something for windows too:
Forum Discussion

Check out that. :)

PS: Yes, i know it was for something else, but the link for the MD5 checker and stuff are there.
If u were to browse the download link u will see more: More Downloads

As I said, it's an issue of making the user download stuff from all over the internet. If the tools required were part of the C::B package, for example, it would be better, because that's pretty much a mandatory download in the first place.

Revision 23515.  This one seems rather stable and (relatively) playable.

@odie
    I like the idea with MD5 checker. But I think your going about it wrong. Try it more like this.

@BTAxis
    Ok I can see what you mean but how about dropping the md5.exe into the C::B.zip\Codeblocks\MinGW\bin\ its only 28K.
    Or even better a SHA1SUM.

I think a check of some sort is needed, while the list of things need to compile the code is small you could make a dependence pack.

If it's not a secret, how, exactly?
I'm testing ufoai_2.3-dev_23245_diff_win32, the two real problems are the buy\sell screen (can't easily and reliably change values due to screwed-up up-down controls) and the notorious 2nd floor problem. The critical issue was the latter. Has it (oh, God, please!) been resolved?

Short answer: Enough that I couldn't make it crash or malfunction horribly to being unplayable.

When I do quick checks of builds before uploading them, I go through all the base menus, try different game screens, try doing things in game like building a new base, installation, etc., buy/sell a few things, randomly research, produce, and equip items, and do this to the point of reaching a ground mission and moving a few soldiers and firing a few weapons.  I also quickly test skirmish mode.

If the build doesn't have any noticeable bugs, crashes, or anything that makes it totally unplayable, with the exception of possibly a few minor (such as cosmetic) little glitches here and there, I stamp it with my seal of being "relatively stable."

Of course, that's never an absolute guarantee...

Please keep in mind that, at least as I understand it, development builds are mainly for bug-hunting and testing new features, not for entertainment/play value, which is what the last stable release is for (At the time of this post 2.2.1).

Thank you for the answer and work. This build is much better than the previous.
UFO:AI is so good that testing is entertainment  ;D
Only problem is whenever a bloodspider gets stunned or killed, the app crashes and gives assertion failed error: http://i063.radikal.ru/0903/22/5fdbceeb1c6d.jpg. [Yes, I did post this bug on the Bugs thread of this forum.]

R23542 Developer's Edition (Compiled for Windows)
Thanks a lot! Stable as before, up to a point. Differences from the prev build posted a couple of post above, as I see them:
Once i kill/stun a bloodspider, the game no longer crashes to desktop, but the tactical mission terminates immediately and you're kicked into geoscape, where you can play it again just like the first time... until you try killing\stunning bloodspiders again, when it kicks you out again just the same.
