You guys need more music.

One track playing over and over makes such a track extremely boring.

I can send some music your way if you need any. ;)
(Sorry for such terrible names, im not any good at names)
An example of my music:

http://www.filefactory.com/file/f70caa/n/WC_Very_Berry_Explosion_aif

Remeber, this song is not what I would recomend for UFO:AI.
It is a mere demonstration.

Enjoy.

(keep in mind these songs are for another project and cannot be used by you)

if you plan to contribute music, you have to release it under some open source license (of course with credits to you) - like the creative commons e.g. see our wiki for more information

Hi, and welcome to the project forum.  I was hoping more musicians would show up and offer tracks here - Many contributers come and go, and for a little while I didn't see many others offer new music.

I agree on both points.  Myself, I'm short on usable and decent synths.  I have an extensive amount of gear and software for doing things with my guitars, from powerful amp-modeling to an isolation cabinet with real amp heads, but I admit I don't have a whole lot for other instruments.

I've been working on a second track for air combat, although everything is on hold right now for a few days while I'm upgrading my DAW software setup.  I can't speak for the developers (myself I'm just a contributer that drops in now and then, Winter, Mattn, and BTAxis, etc. decide what actually gets used in the game), but I would very much like to hear and offer feedback on anything you could offer.

This isn't bad as a background track, listening to it I can certainly imagine hearing it in a game of some kind.

Do you have any ideas already for music for this project?  Myself, I've posted plenty of partial clips and works-in-progress here.

Also, if you have other examples of your work from other projects you could share, I'd certainly be interested to hear them.

...And again, glad to see another artist speak up here.

EDIT:  To my knowledge, I believe the project can also still use a few more sound effects in some areas - I don't know off-hand which ones - but I think some footsteps for some terrains are still needed.

RenzNash just woke me up from a long cryogenic sleep by replying.

I have a considerable amount of free time on my hands usually so I can be relatively devoted to this project... AS LONG AS you make sure the UGVs have the CCCP paint option...

I'm not sure I made this clear in my original post but what I meant was for a map to have a few songs that play as opposed to 1 repeating.

shouldn't be that hard to implement.

Anyone have anything to say about the music? You know, to much ___ to little ___?

Btw, how do I officially announce that these files are under a CC license?

my ears are not best ones for this task

we've added svn properties to the files in our svn. that's the way we handle it. you can add yourself to the credits if you like - see base/ufos/seq_credits.ufo

As another musician, these all sound good to me, I can easily imagine most of these fitting in the game quite well, although the one I'm not sure about is the "Party on the lunar surface" one - the track is OK but parts of it do indeed sound more like dance music, and I'm not sure exactly how that track would fit into the game.  (Then again, I admit I didn't listen to all of them all the way through yet.)

Hopefully BTAxis and especially Winter will comment on these.

Mattn is right, although what I do myself for my tracks is I go to the CC website and pick one.  I'd suggest an unported license (not specific to any nation) and one that allows commercial use (for compatibility with GPL), although it's really up to you as these are your tracks.

Edit: I'd also suggest the OGG format, not MP3.  If you have any questions on how to make them into OGGs, just ask (if you don't know already).

Well, firstly thank you. And I have a few more that I can add as well.

Thank you on the information about CC licensing. I will do that.

I posted MP3s instead of OGGs because I, and probably lots of other people, cant run OGGs outside of a game.

VLC Player plays them just fine, and is free (and open-source), and also has a portable version for those who don't like to install more tools on their system.  (Just for reference.)

As a side note, I'm hoping Winter will comment on these tracks soon...

I dont think I made it clear that I posted these to serve the purpose of examples. (though if you particularly like one track I can modify in the direction of the game) I meant mostly for you guys to give me an idea of what is needed the most as far as music goes so I can make something to fill that role.

If you think that I have the skill necessary to make a track your happy with then I need a description of this track.

Just in case u r not sure of the existence of this project and its whereabouts:
VideoLAN - VLC Media Player

Have fun! Its a cool program with tons of good codecs inside.

Sidetrack, is this to be included in 2.3 ongoing + 2.4 future development?
Reason? Trying to incorporate into this thread.

:)

That's kind of offtop, but I always want to say - for me XCom3 OST is an IDEAL. It is perfectly strengthen the game atmosphere...
I wonder if there is any chance of adding some track to the game ?

If its a direct copy, no, because the original XCOM series is all commercial and copyrighted, and we don't have rights to those works.
