Grey shapes and no landscape
« on: April 30, 2008, 04:21:43 pm »
Hi

I'm using a 1,3 ghz cpu with 248 SDRAM and Windows XP (Acer Travelmate 220). Gothic 1 and Diablo 2 were running fine, so up to now i don't see any hardwareproblems.
I downloaded from chip.de, installation ok. Running problems in window mode, so i turned to normal mode.
Opens, Mouse slow, but worse: Grey shapes of the earth and units, ships, etc.
As I don't understand any programmers slang, i would be glad, if you could offer me a simple dummy-proof solution. Drivers are all actualized.

Hej,

First: A huge complement to all you did that amazing work of bringing back to life the fantastic old UFO series!!!

Grey shapes: I experience the same problem: T23, 866MHZ, 256RAM + 16GB S3 Graphic,

I now, the Laptop is quite to weak for the game, but the game works fine, anyway!!! (Except, there are only grey people and maps in version 2.2.)

There is not such a problem when playing version 2.1. . Then the real colours are back but unfortunately the game is not so advanced.

So could you please help us? Or what did you change in version 2.2., so that we don

Same situation on duron1100/256mb/8mb savage4. Some of figures and objects are shapes, not all off them. In both tactical and strategical modes.
Looks like a great game.  :)

Maybe it is because of the Savage graphic card. Like you saw, my S3 (Savage3) makes the same type of trouble.

Attached comes the AI Console report. My OpenGL version is supposed to be too small (last row: OpenGL Version 1.1 2.60.115 is less than 1.2.1). I guess that is the problem, or?

Does anyone know how to upgrade the OpenGL version, if it is possible? I tried to actualise the Video and Monitor drivers but it did not work so far.

Thanks in advanced!!!

Is there any way to move into 16 bit mode?
In console, I've tried

r_bitdepth 16
r_colordepth 4
vid_restart

but it stays in 24 bit.
System - debian testing.
