Error with sound/ Inventory error
« on: July 13, 2006, 11:58:36 pm »
Alrighty! Being the Bug magnet that I am, I have located two possible bugs, both of which have already been mentioned in this forum. However, I also believe that I have found the solution with the sound issue:

------------------------------------

------- sound initialization -------
Soundsystem: SDL.
SDL audio driver is "dsound".
Bits: 16
Frequency: 44100
Samples: 1024
Channels: 2
sound sampling rate: 44100
------------------------------------
CD Audio Initialized
couldn't exec autoexec.cfg
...could not set to language:
...could not set to system language
Shared Client/Server Info loaded
...precaching 46 menus
Can't find pics/menu/multi_buttons1
Can't find pics/menu/main_buttons2
Can't find pics/menu/button_connect_to_ip
Can't find pics/
====== UFO Initialized ======

 Please not: couldn't exec autoexec.cfg
Why? You say? Easy, it isn't there. Why this is, I have no idea. I may try one I have for another program and see if it will read it anyway, but I thought I should point this out. I will also note that I have fiddled with the settings in game, this may have deleted the file instead of editing it. As yet, I do not know(I'll find out though).

Also, I too have been having the Inventory problem, except I am having it on the first mission. It is very aggravating, but I know that it is being worked on, so I shall be patient

Below are two anomolous areas in the log that may or may not pertain to the Inventory error. The first is somewaht early on, the second mid way:

Ah, okay. I didn't think that copying a different autoexec.cfg would work, but I figured it was worth a try. Thanks

You are welcome. :D

What version? What OS? (Why can't we make it so the logs tell us version and OS, BTW?)

Err...I'm downloading it now. I do believe that I saw a post specificly for this software at another spot, so I'll direct any questions there. Let the bug hunt, begin!

Yeah, I've been fiddling with it and determined that I will not be able to compile UFO:AI with my current software. Namely, I don't have the right compiler. I tried Cygwin, which usually works for Lynix based programs, but it failed...horribly. However, I will test and experiment/destroy every version that is compiled and posted on the site.
