big fps issue, and resolution setting problems
« on: February 03, 2008, 10:35:37 am »
Hi everyone

I'm back on this forum after more than a year, and I'm glad to see that this project is still alive. I've lost it for a while, but now I'm curious to see what's new.. there are loads of new posts and stuff   :o

However, after downloading the new release, I have lots of problems in running the game:

1st of all, I can't change the game's resolution from 1024x768 to any other setting, and when I try to do that and click the fullscreen (?) button, the game crashes.

2nd, and more important, I have a huge fps problem when in battlescape mode. The fps drop from 50-60 to 3-4 in battlescape, which is quite odd for the system I have.

I tried changing the resolution setting from the cfg file, but with no effect.

My system is a Acer Aspire 5520G laptop with 2GB of RAM, GeForce 8400MG card (128MB or more) and AMD Turion64x2 CPU (dualcore). I'm running Windows Vista.

I had no problems with the previous versions on my old Celeron computer, everything ran smoothly

3rd problem is a gameplay issue or bug - when I'm equiping the squad, if i right click on their gear (to clear it quicker) the gear sometimes disappears and I can't find it anymore in any section.

nvidia + dualcore == driver bug

try to search the forum for this sort of speed issue - in general the solution is to deactivate the multicore optimizations in the nvidia driver settings. (afair)

Where would one do this? ive had a look through the nfida control panel but couldnt see any multicore option.  I also had a look at my nvida driver details but no option to change anything.
I had a look at the nvidia forums but there were no related topics. Plese help me! :)
