Instalation big bug
« on: June 26, 2007, 12:30:38 pm »
Helllo
I have played another (not opensource) version of UFO game and after installing this UFO AI the installer not only installed your game to folder with the another UFO but also overwritten the previous one ... what's worse that after uninstalation of AI completely disappeared the directory with all the saves etc from previous game

do you know about that problem ? What's the problem to fix it? (because I think it gives not good light to opensource version of UFO ...)

The installer does remove the entire directory, and this I consider a good thing. Too many uninstallers leave log files and other peripheral files around that you have to delete manually.

It should not install itself to the directory of any other UFO game by default, though.

Unless you give a little more information on what game you're talking about, where you had it installed and how our installer behaved when you used it, we can't tell.

maybe we are using the same registry keys to identify the installation folder.

But you did at least check what path it would install to, right?

To further clarify this, let me add:
In what directory was UFO Aftermath installed in?
What was default directory proposed by UFO: Alien Invasion?

My answer for last one would be:
C:\Program Files\UFOAI-2.2-dev

about the installer path I cannot be sure of what I am sure is that I didn't change it durring installation
about the other Qs
path was C:\Program Files\CENEGA\UFO Aftermath

and about the path for UFO:AI yes after instalation in steps
1)UFO:AI
2)UFO:AM
the directory is what has been told
maybe will try to to this test again and will see what happens (if it happens again)
