I model and map for fun as an hobby, so If you need models, I will make them for you.

You can see some work from me on my website.

hi and welcome to our forms,

thanks for your offer to contribute models - we could really use them - and btw. they look really nice.

the problem is, that our project is completly opensourced. so you have to chose a license which we should use to release them. e.g. the gpl, or the creative commons artist licenses.

both are compatible.

again thanks for your offer - i would really like to use some of your models - if you agree to the license. of course you will be listed in the contributors list.

best regards
martin

No problem, I make an distribution package and include an GPL licence.
All models are in md2 format with an skin, look what you can use.
When the package is ready, I give you an link.

If you have any problems with other models, converting them to md2, I can also do that ( low poly ).

And if you like some new models, or special things, let me know.
I like to make models for an hobby. :)

again thanks for this offer - a link with gpl license included would be very nice.

if you want to make some new models - we need some more static map models. cars, trucks, caterpillars, trees and plants (no brush models, but real volume models) and everthing else that is imageable to put into a map

best regards
martin

Great. Thank you Willem.

I did have some spare time so I make it already.

Here is the link :

http://www.md2.sitters-electronics.nl/models/MD2_models.zip

Look what you can use, They are so low poly as possible, because for the game I make them, is losing fast FPS with higher poly models.

I make some new higher poly models with more detail. :)

Willem

Sitters is OK.

I have one question.
The models I make have some times transparent parts in the skin, can the engine handle MD2 models with an .png skin ?

I use transparency for plants and trees.

Willem

Edit :

I dont know if you like this kind of aircraft ( 273 poly's no triangles ), so yes then I skin it.

and an car,

nice sitters, they are looking good (but about the aircraft we have to wait for winter's response)

the engine can handle transparent skins, it supports, tga, png, jpg, pcx

but please use tgas - and please set the skinpath to ".imageBaseName"
no extension here, please and a dot at the beginning, the engine will search for the right skin itself - and if there is only one skin, it should have the same  name as the basename of the md2 - and please all lowercase

thanks for your work - i really love your models.

I like the look of it, it has an element of dangerousness, but unfortunately there's a few problems.

1) It can't have guns of its own, only hardpoints where the UFO:AI guns can be mounted.
2) Why does it have 4 wings? It looks nice, but they'd make the whole thing very unstable. I would suggest making the bottom wings larger and firmer and moving them forward to become main wings, so the top two can become tailplanes like on the F-22 Raptor or be completely eliminated.
3) It needs a more aerodynamic shape if we want to pass it off as a heavy hypersonic fighter. Imagine a really advanced version of the F-22 Raptor.

I hope that conveyed what I mean. Let me know if there are any difficulties or if you'd rather just drop the model.

Regards,
Winter

No problem, if you want an heavy hypersonic fighter, i make an new model, that is faster then adapt this one.

Willem

Edit :

I make an new one, maybe this is better ( 360 poly's non rectangle).
If you like more detail, of course then you get more poly's.
But I can add a lot of detail with the texture.

I liked that first model better, myself. What Winter said is true, but at least it's recognizable from a standard fighter, and it looks "heavy" for a fighter. The new model just looks like any other jet fighter. I feel it's important to have models that the player can tell apart at first glance. One reason is that it makes gameplay that much smoother. A second reason is that, when you research and construct a new aircraft with new technology, you want it to look the part. If it looks like the same as what you had but with slightly different wings and different stats, it's a bit of a letdown.
