Bigger bases

So I read in the changelog of 2.4, that you can build now bigger bases. How do you do that? Is there a button like "bigger base here" or something, because I found nothing like this. Or do I have to wait or to research bigger bases?

You got it wrong. The code now support bigger buildings not just 1x1 and 2x1 but (BASE_SIZE - 1)x(BASE_SIZE - 1), but we don't yet even have so big buildings. The feature was done for the planned Advanced Facilities, like advanced workshop, big (dropship) hangar and so.
We plan to make Larger Bases, but it's not yet done.
