Now Now, i read our TODO list and realised not much have been given a thought to medals.
I used to enjoy playing flight simulations like the old time F15 - Which i LOVE the medals given out - realistic and repeatable ones can be earned.
Basically, even in real life, medals are given in 4,5 basic different types:
1) Service Medals (For serving a nos of years - 5, 10, 15, 20, 22, 25 usually).
2) Tour of Duties (For serving a certain campaign - Like Gulf War, WW1, WW2, Korean War, Viet War, Etc.....)
3) Commendation Medals (For achieving a commendable task, like USA's Bronze Star, Silver Star, Airforce's Air Medal and the Ultimanatum - CMOH (Congressional Medal of Honor) : The highest award from US)
4) Medals for injuries or special citation (such as the Purple Heart for injury in combat for USA). / Overseas' Commendation for special efforts.
5) Special Earned Skills such as Airborne / Seaman / EOD (Explosive Ordanance Disposal)
As such, may i suggest the following to be considered for our UFOAI?
Have a medal section for each soldier (yes i know, more programming to be done).
Here's something i plugged from F15 profile of mine....
(The CMOH in the centre, rank at the top, tour of duties at bottom....)
Inside, a box something like this:
1) Service Medals - For serving an X nos of campaigns. Since i played on 2.2 abt 100+ battles, i can consider the breakdown of (10, 20, 40, 70, 100, 150, 200) to be good. Every 50 more will deserve a special medal perhaps?
2) Tour of Duties (perhaps for us, its every say 25 missions = 1 tour of duty?)
3) Commendation Medals (for killing a nos of aliens per mission for eg - 3, 5, 10), and then for probably another for total nos accumulated so far (eg, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, then every X nos).
4) Say Injured for X nos of campaigns can be for a start. I dunno abt this, probably scrap this? lol. Except for Purple Heart, i really love it!
5) This is a must i thnk. Eg, Your sniper skill exceeds a certain lvl, your explosives, your eg.... get the idea?
