I like more combat oriented games, like Fallout Tactics as much as I like the RPG versions. Unlike some people that complain that it's 'not a real fallout' I accept that it's just a different genre in the same world. The same with Icewind Dale to Baldur's Gate.

As long as you focus on the combat, and don't try to jam too much story into the parts that shouldn't have it, that's fine.

As much as I enjoy realism, as soon as aliens invade, I assume realism has been thrown out the window and shot on the way down.

Psionics have a heritage within the game mechanics, which is one thing, and within the idealism of the games themselves. However, I'd like to see poison as well. Bacterial or biological agents are already taken care of by the breathing devices, at least within the Tamans.

As of 2.5, the most useful map I've found is the one bunker map. Just for the sheer miscellany of tunnels and the tiny, tiny entry points.

Sounds like they played Interceptor. It wasn't much fun there either.

I figure that Phalanx uses secure military shipping, or underground transit lines between bases, explaining why it takes days instead of being flown in a drop ship in a couple hours.

I think he means a toggle of select a soldier and have the camera lock, then select a different soldier and have it lock to that view, instead of having to lock to one, pressing button, and then repeating for another soldier.

What you want for that is to adjust the level you're firing at. From 'ground level' go up two or three. The grenade should arc over the target.

Depends on the sniper and situation. I've heard of snipers shooting for the torso because of the easier target, but others shooting for the Fatal-T to ensure an instant kill. Of course, since aliens might not necessarily have that, it might be useless.

20mm is, but the 12.7mm round isn't. Police snipers use them to shoot through things like bank bulletproof glass, so there's some precedent.

Hmm... I think the target I was terminating had already used it's reaction fire. In any case it's the 'If' you hit that causes me concern. If I fire seven and miss with three, that's still 60 damage. If I fire twice (reaction fire reserve) and miss both, the higher damage of the PB doesn't mean squat. I'd rather get half to a third of my damage on target than none at all.

Rocket Launchers. Fire down from above using the Shift key to aim at the ground beneath them for maximum chance to cause splash damage.

It's a pretty terrible close weapon that's beaten so thoroughly by the Plasma PISTOL. With thirty-one TU, I can crouch and fire seven reasonably accurate shots, not a single one of which will trigger reaction fire.

Trouble is that as long as you penetrate the armor on the spider, it's going to do all sorts of nasty things to the unprotected internals.

DO NOT CHANGE THE RELOAD RATE. It's impossible to fire and reload on the same turn as it is. That would mean that like the Rocket Launcher the sniper rifle would go from being a situationally useful weapon, (Due to the high fire cost triggering reaction fire) to being a shoot once, drop it weapon.
