By the end of the second month I have 2 or 3 bases depending on the difficulty level.

I don't use rockets anymore, just grenade launchers.

The troops already start at the transport. Clarify what you mean.

If you're trying to say they should all start "inside" the transport, then you're being difficult.

Using Nukes isn't a very good idea; the idea is to capture alien tech, not blow it to kingdom come.

Of course while were on the topic, x-com fanfiction sometimes depicts the Blaster Bombs as guided mini-nukes.

What if the aliens don't use their more advanced stuff until you've researched what they're currently fielding.

For example, researching the Taman autopsy results in Ortnoks being deployed, then Shevaars after the Ortnok autopsy.

Researching Plasma Pistols results in Rifles and later Heavy Plasma. Completing Heavy Plasma would result in Aliens using Particle beams.

It's just an idea based on the war escalating realistically.

I think it's a passable suggestion and feedback would be welcome.

I don't like spiders, going by my slight arachnaphobic reaction I'd say Mattn's bloodspider is an improvement.

I've found that in 2.2 if you put the goggles in your hand, it'll let you use them to see what's behind walls for 12 TU's. (use them like you would any other weapon) I just use the 'Headgear' slot as a dedicated place to put my goggles after I'm done using them. ^_^

No wonder they never seemed to work, I never would have thought of using them like that.

It sounds like an ok concept.
I also think it would do well to draw inspiration from various "frogman" myths from earth culture.

Take the Japanese Kappa for example, A humanoid snapping turtle with a beak and a dish of water on it's head.

The only one I don't like is the middle one, it just doesn't feel right.

I think the other two are great though. I see them as a replacement for the standard armor at the beginning of the game.

It's almost 2 years old but I don't imagine they've made much progress and I don't know if the project's still running.

I think I'll bring this up again when UFO 2.4 is in the pre-planning stage.

Edit: Personally I think that the Laser Prototypes are doing better.
