How much memory do you have? If just little the system will try to compensate by swapping. This cause high CPU and HDD activity, and slowdown (lagging).

 I have 1G and ufoai used 71%-of it (2.3-dev version, on linux, according to top)

I guess you play version 2.2(.1 ?).  You have to capture a Scout first.
It has been changed in the current developing version where you get an UFO Theory research when capturing a UFO (any type).

The Coilgun uses the same ammo as the bolter.
Is this ok? AFAIR bolter ammo contains the rails too but coilgun doesn't need them. Bolter's ammo shouldn't fit in the coilgun. However the model can be the base of the coilgun's.

My guess was right you should install the curl package. I don't know which package manager ubuntu (and you) use (I have debian) but if apt then you should run this from a root* terminal:

apt-get install curl
*root is the system administrator user. You can get root privileges by typing su on the terminal and it's password when asked.

Ok, just checked Gnome's file manager can also show hidden files (I don't know which wm ubuntu uses), you just have to enable it in view menu. :)

IMO the best is to try running the game from console, maybe there you can see more than in the log.

The directory ufoai is your game directory, am I right? When starting the game first it (should) create(s) a .ufoai directory for user preferences and savegames. In linux the files/dirs starting with a dot are hidden so you should check with a capable file manager (like midnight commander).

I guess some required modules missing (libcurl,libsdl*,linpng). You can check the .ufoai/<version>/base/ufoconsole.log under your home directory. Or open a console/terminal and run ufo by hand. Then messages will be written out there.

According to the storyline, we had problems with producing nanocomposite armours (before aliens). But good at nanotech medicines? It seems conflict eachother, IMO.

hi. Which version do you use?
In the version I use, which is near to the latest, there are 'Buy factor' and 'Sell factor' settings (I've checked at equipment selling) and buying/selling happens immediately.

By the way this second is not good. As I know there is (or will be) a selling penalty. So if I want to buy something and accidentally click to an other item's buy button, selling it will cause deficit for me. A confirmation button would be nice. I'll create an official FR for this. :)

You don't have to. The game will look for individual dirs/files first then packs (as I know).
