Discussion / Re: 3 Things to Change Back... (v2.4 suggestion)
« on: May 05, 2012, 12:58:00 pm »
@danninemx:
I know about the 'walking past RF soldiers' issue. And I'll be working on that ;)
Also unlike in 2.3, RF is *fair* now (i.e. TU based). Keep that in mind...

What do you mean, "fair / tu based"? That the faster action (that needs less tu's) happens first?

There's a Hummer on its side on the road, go there, pick up the bomb, walk the newly equipped demoman into the green cloud by the gate, run the fuck away, enjoy.

How come I didn't think of that  ::)

So what's that green cloud, anyway? Do those just mark locations where I can do something, like, blow stuff up?

okay, so how do I enter that building? I can't find a door or a doorway, I do see a gate but can't open that.

Bugs in older version (2.4) / Re: disappearing base structures
« on: May 04, 2012, 07:59:08 pm »
I'll check it in the evening however a possible reason for an emptied base is: if it was left undefended and aliens attacked... You can check the message history (use the green "dot" to open/close it).

-geever

hey, that's exactly what happened!!!

an undefended base gets overrun, okay, but I would have expected a little more response from the game than a text message saying so, perhaps a pop-up notification or something similar could be added?

I closed the bug report.

Discussion / Re: how smoke nades work?

They seem to work that way. I'm a bit bummed though that they last just for one round and then completely vanish, a two or three round duration would have made them a lot more useful.

Bugs in older version (2.4) / disappearing base structures
« on: May 04, 2012, 10:51:25 am »
Just loaded a saved game and my second base has nothing but the entrance, every other structure is just... gone.

slot 0 savegame is an earlier one showing the second base in early developement, if you look at the later slot 1 savegame you'll see the second base is empty.

Discussion / how smoke nades work?
« on: May 03, 2012, 01:05:38 pm »
It is my understanding that the alien ai still knows where the player's troops are at all times, so in what way are smoke grenades useful? Does blocking line of sight prevent them from shooting anyway? Or are they only useful in multiplayer games?

Discussion / 2.4 single player campaign types?
« on: May 03, 2012, 09:00:34 am »
so, what's the difference between simple and full campaigns?

475
Apparently so, but consider an "end user" who got the game from a repository - they had the previous version, and once 2.4 came available it automagically updated into a not-so-well-working mishmash of the two versions. Highly confusing and inconvenient.

Not that this would be a priority issue. 2.4 seems really awesome btw.

476
uninstalled/reinstalled completely, now it says v 2.4 as expected.

the update clitch was really weird all the same. I suppose ufoai was not meant to be upgraded like that in the first place?

477
There is no +city map in v2.4.

Interesting. I ran the usual apt-get update procedure which updated ufoai as well, and noticing that, I went ahead to see what's changed and it certainly looks different, and my old savegames are gone as well. But now that I checked, it does say "ver 2.3.1".

Interesting^2.

478
I dropped in the same patch as used with 2.3, and it seems to fix the issue.

-- edit - we're talking about the linux version here.

479
I recall we had this one in 2.3, and there was a patch for it. Now it's back in 2.4, should we just run the same patch again?

Is that not the latest "official  stable release"? Which is what anyone would expect to get from there, in my opinion.
