That's the problem. Blywulf has them, and he's dropped out of the world.

The forum admins have access to his email address.  Have you tried emailing him?

Please feel free to rip Blywulf's icons out of the proposal JPEGs, by the way, they should be salvageable and most of them were really good.

They do look good but you don't want to be ripping them out of the jpeg.  Surely the originals are available somewhere?

So far SoulRipper's gui work looks the sharpest and most thought-through.

I think destructible terrain is pointless.  However, destructible objects are not.  Powerful weapons should disintegrate wooden fences etc.

While SoulRipper's effort is a solid one i think that the proposal from here : http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Proposals/New_UI looks more stylish  .
It's reminiscent of the Syndicate Wars UI (which was one of the nicest UIs I ever encountered in a game).

I know I have an excellent point, hence I'm bringing it up *again*.  Sadly I failed to convey this to the decision makers the last time I tried.

Of course the main project could have the 'made' maps committed to it and have an originals/ project for the map sources, that way the only person who needs to 'make' a map is the map author.  But that'd just save a lot of time and energy for everybody involved.  ::)  Yeah I know, you're not interested...  ::)

Discussion / No mention of UFO:AI on strategycore

There's no mention of UFO:AI here:
http://www.strategycore.co.uk/

Since it's a site dedicated to the X-COM/UFO style of game, it's a bit surprising.

Is that list documented anywhere (i.e. in the wiki) other than in this thread?

Make an small movie clip, with some sound.
But I don't have an good sound for an space ship, i make one myself.

If you don't like it you can rip the sound of it.

You do know the ships clip the moon and, well, look rather sillily large when doing so.

That animation was very good.  I think the comment on size was that it's a large download - better to provide a tiny 10-15 frame example and link to the full animation rather than including it directly as some people are on slower connections.

Still, good quality, some good cinematics for the game hopefully. :)

Coding / Re: Comments on Compiling
« on: October 11, 2007, 02:33:55 pm »
Ok, the plot thickens.

You _can_ get the latest compiled maps using rsync.

However, this is not documented anywhere relevant.  I just looked through all the docs related to compiling and not one mention of this, only ever instructions to 'make maps'.  I only actually discovered this rsync stuff through the mailing list discussion on this subject.

You guys need to document that and mention it in the right places.  How are people supposed to know otherwise?

I've been accused of being snotty and rude but I hope that, despite whatever negative noise you consider there to be in the piece, you can discern the positive and constructive criticisms in there.
