Newbie here, where can i get 2.4 because 2.3 keeps going unresponsive on loading maps even out of fullscreen

ive only just found this game n cant wait to play it properly as i have done with various xcom games but i have a small problem.
i can start the game fine, geoscape loads up i can do all the strategic geoscape but when it comes to the tactical game, the maps dont load up ad the game becomes unresponsive.
can any one help me with this?
