Discussion / Re: My first Let's Play is UFO:AI v2.5-dev

Thanks dude  :D yeah I've either gotta improve my mic setup or do more editing. Still a work in progress I guess.

Not sure if its a micro issue. Sounds more like a audio buffering problem, which is probably caused by recording video using a "slow" pc. Of course it could be another issue, since i dont know your specs. ;)

2) All menus now have a really annoying texture in the background that makes the game look unpolished compared to 2.4.  It's so annoying that I cannot play while it is there.

If you mean the "fiber texture", the texture can be easily modded:
Create a transparent image named "screen.png" in the folder \pics\ui\ (which you have to create yourself).

Its quite easy to set up and works fine.

Bugs in stable version (2.5) / Re: What Walking Sounds Like
« on: October 28, 2013, 12:19:15 pm »
None of my sounds (of which many are used for footsteps) have a minimum of 44khz. I know some of grens sounds have this sample rate, but many of them aren't used anymore.

Also i've found this report:
http://ufoai.org/bugs/ufoalieninvasion/issues/5193

We could try to convert all sounds to wav and see if it still happens.

Any news about this bug? Have it been fixed? I cant test it atm.

I'd use it to make a spork that is a spoon that can morph into a fork or a couch that can morph into a chair and desk.
Sporkimus Prime and Couchatron? :D

Have the issue as well. Its definitively not a soundcard/driver issue. I presume something broke with the port to SDL2. I also presume its a windows only problem? (running on win7 here)

In 2.5-dev, you should expect soldier losses. Everything -- weapon balance, armour levels, wounds, medikits, soldier stats, employee numbers, UFO frequency, alien squad size -- have been designed with the expectation that you will suffer losses in combat.

Sounds like i have to save/load a lot of times, the next time i play the game :P

Most likely many of these 2.4 bugs have already been fixed - since this version is over an year old. So instead of reporting a bug which have been probably fixed already a long time ago, you should check the nightly build of our 2.5 dev version. :)

You can DL it here:

I didnt meant the quality of the screenshots, i meant the quality of the actual earth texture. Its really low res while other textures in the battlescape are in a higher quality.

Thats great to hear. :) But i've been wondering why the resolution of the geosphere is so low in your screenshots while other textures are in a better quality?
