Bugs in older version (2.3.1) / Re: Alien AI

The Alien AI is still shooting against all possible walls, it happen's almost every map. this should be fixed its not big fun to play against dumb AI. if i remember a older 2.3 dev version i cant remember that this AI act stupid like today.

btw i play standard difficult campaign, maybe this AI is only stupid in this difficulty  level?

When i shoot with plasma shotgun TU bar on soldier doesn't update with remaining TUs. It shows still full 32 TU but i can't use them (correctly). Seems just a displaying bug.

I noticed that bug in 2.3 rev 30745 too, but with plasma rifle.

Yes. Multisample buffering works now. No crashes. I just had to restart the game.

Still... the OpenGL problem has now taken a new turn:
I posted this OpenGL problem at Tom's hardware (at the ATI section). They believe the problem is NOT OpenGL or my card but in fact something in the code that is not compliant with some ATI cards. I have run some older OpenGL games like Doom3 and all of them runs smooth.  ???

I think this is more of a glitch in the engine coding than a hardware compatibility issue - like ATI cards running OpenGL.

Hope someone will look into this.  ;D

The problem is doom3 runs smooth on my PC too, but this game got low fps on my nvidia card 7600GT too cause my card dont support openGL 3.0. i dont think that there is a way to fix it. but anyways that game could get some performance optimization.

btw your card support now openGL 3.0? cause you said in a early post there is a problem...

I tested with r31016 yesterday and did NOT have a crash at EoT. Does it really crash for you *every* time you press that button ? btw 31016 only seems to differ in sounds.

Maybe it happens only in rev 31015?  i try it on 2 different missions around 6-7 times every time crash.
possible this error only appears with the download from 2.3stable + muton's update to rev 31015!?


if anyone could me upload a new update im interested to test a newer revision.

Tooltips are speaking about 'Windows users', while i am not windows user.
then you should post a usefull bug report with that information and revisions number....

Other bug spotted - changing resolution without restart seem not change size of 3d planet view in strategic map.

who cares? just restart the game... you have to do it anyways to enter battlescape.

btw there are tooltips in interface that tells you to restart game after change different video settings.

Bugs prior to release 2.3 / Ufo suddenly invisible, bug?

i spotted on my geoscape a ufo, but after he is in my range from my rockets (base defense) i cant see it no longer... is this a bug or a feature (stealth)?

I had this issue I flxed it by:

-Disabling GLSL shading
-Going to fullscreen
-Putting UFO: AI in XP (SP2) compatibility mode.
-I'd suggest running as administrator (I didn't have to do this as I have UAC turned off and this is a administrator account so it defaults to administrator rights)

Things to note after doing the above:

-Do not change from windowed to fullscreen or fullscreen to windowed (battlescape will crash if you transition to or from it or do this while in it.)
-Do not re-enable GLSL (EVER!)
-Do not change gamma level while in combat it will crash (Do it before or after combat)

Which revision do you play?

I dont think that glsl shaders are in context with a crash to desktop from end turn button... if that game got a problem with glsl shaders it wouldnt not even load to battlescape or i would have graphic issues, same with the other problems that you talking about there is no relations with this bug.

we are talking special about END TURN/ FINISH ROUND button, i just want to be sure there is no mistake.

Also, when I enable multisample buffering the game crashes when I enter the tactical screen.

the game crash only if you load to tactical screen (battlescape)??? i just remember that this multisample bug was fixed near completion to 2.3 stable. since that fix multisample works for my nvidia card but it crashed right after i changed the settings.

i think you need to restart the game after you activate multisampling in video-settings.

There have been several changes to g_ai.c recently.

Do you compile yourself ?
If so, could you plz go back to something like r31750 and tell us if the problem persissts / which rev broke it ?

i use the updates/installer from Muton (Win32 Development Binary Installer Links) with the early update (rev 30745) i got no problems like this.
I dont know which rev broke it, because i cant create my own compile on my PC.
it is between rev 30745-31015

Ok, I have attached a game where a ufo is approaching a base with a Saracen.
Send the Saracen after the ufo and it will return out of ammo.

ROFL are you joking? a saracen bomber not even equip shiva's.  he used only rockets btw use search command... i asked in a other tread about saracen bomber already... that bomber shoot his rockets in 2seconds and he fly back to reload.

You can install release or debug, even switch from debug to release or vis-versa

to all people dont download the latest update. there is a big bug in battlescape, unable to play (crash to desktop on clicking button Finish round).

Would be nice if muton could upload a new update after this problem would be fixed.
