Just a quickie: Is the new UI working yet?

Ball mode with a plasma blaster is an area effect shot, might this have something to do with it? Your soldier doesn't want to fry himself as well perhaps?

However I would like to note that this is (ab)using the current implementation of the troop deployment, You are not encouraged to do this and we might change the code without a note!

Sorry dude, but how is this abuse? I like being able to order my roster so the higher ranks are at the top, that way if I miss seeing who died, I can instantly see if it was an important trooper or a redshirt.

I don't think you can change the order on the roster, but the order on the dropship is dictated by the order the boxes are ticked.

Feature Requests / Re: Month end procedure
« on: October 09, 2013, 09:16:14 pm »
No plan. Of course, you can always mod it. :) It's a very easy mod.

I tried copying and pasting the "soldier" template in teams_template, and modifying the pastes, but the game only seems to recognise the first template. Am I going wrong somewhere?

+1.

2.4 has different soldier templates, so there was a 74% chance of getting a regular soldier, 5% chance of getting a specialist in one of the combat categories (back when Heavy Weapons was a skill) and a 1% chance of getting an "elite" soldier with enhanced stats across the board. But in 2.5, we are reduced to just the standard soldier template. Is there a plan to reintroduce specialists and elites, and if not, could we request it please?

Windows / Re: Nightly Builds (Full Installer)
« on: September 29, 2013, 04:29:18 pm »
Hm. Have you tried waiting for any reaction from either installer after double-clicking? I only ask because, again, I have to wait up to 20 mins or so for any reaction from the installers once downloaded. Takes a while, but gets there in the end. Looks like you've d/l'd all the content, those file sizes look about right.

I have to try the nightly installer two or three times before it downloads the whole file. Which browser are you using?

Just a quickie. How are the TUs for roll/lob of hand grenades calculated? I ask because it costs some of my soldiers 6 tus, whilst others have to spend 8... :s

Hmmm, dunno how easy it would be to implement, needs a dev look. As to the civvies, AFAIK they run away from any aliens they can see, and try to group together if no aliens are in sight. Don't take that as gospel though, that's just based on observation and, IIRC, one of the tips of the day.

13
@Monkeyhead: Yeah, I agree, would just cause unneccessary complications, imo.

@Eegxeta: In his book, Andy Mcnab (leader of the SAS patrol) estimates they caused 250 casualties over a 3-night period. My point was that if eight men can do that with conventional weapons, imagine what five aliens, with vastly superior tech and the element of surprise, would be able to do.

14
... five guys can't beat one hundred, unless your playing CoD.

Dude, you need to read about Bravo Two Zero, an SAS patrol from the First Gulf War.
