I actually love the rocket launcher in sniping situations.  I've had the most success hitting with that and the damage radius has even knocked off aliens that were out of direct LOS but in range.  Terrible to reload, ammo production is slow, and no moving and shooting in same turn are the big drawbacks that I hit.

But unless gender effects the stats distribution, does it really matter?  Can we tie in a limiting parameter on gender? ie. if gender=male then strenth would be a random stat in a range 25% higher than if gender=female?  And if gender=female then sniping (or intelligence! ;D) would be random in a range 25% higher than male?  Then gender would matter, and Bartley's suggestion should work quite nicely to even out the gender trends.

Realistically though, there are only two genders to choose from.  Won't the trend naturally swing back and forth?  The stats aren't dictated by gender so capabilities seem to be sufficiently random. And wouldn't connecting random number initialization to time be random enough?  Mouse cursor tends to begin from the same area because it generally remains in the same area...the Icon you start the game from...or maybe not.

Hey, pretty good!  The big challenge is always to produce an alien something that doesn't just look like a strange humanoid.

I hope any alien life would have it's own Prime Directive non-intervention philosophy down pat and stay out of sight.  To know they are out there would be totally awesome, but we are very not ready.

Looks like it is reproducing the sidebar in shifted form...getting graphics map from wrong source?

Mac / Re: Won't save, "file size mismatch"

Size mismatch is usually an installer issue.  Is it trying to save to a non-existent directory?  An if you try to reinstall you will need to go to the library and make sure everything is cleaned out.

Edit:  If you really want to know, Google is useful for finding out such things - Not to be rude, but I'm not going to look it up and research it for you.

...And of course there's the wikipedia, which also has a lot of (usually) good information.

Ah, so...a Unix to Mac porting utility begun by a German hacker ten years ago and used throughout the HUGE open-source MAC community.  Now I know.

Bugs prior to release 2.3 / Re: Wrong description in UFOpedia

I guess you would come upon this issue if you just read the Wiki rather than reach that trigger in the game?  Seems to me anyway.  When you breach that trigger in th game, you have a craft. "This" craft. Yup yup.

Holy Gripemunster, Batman!  I hope Mattn and Geever don't get too disgruntled over the griping.  Keep designing "your" game/gameplay and just let the whiners and critics surf on to something else.  This is a neat project.  I don't "like" every detail either, but I don't even have the time to help test, let alone assist in development, so I will just play and enjoy!
Kudos to ya'.

Second, the old soldier units are actually going to be replaced, that's already underway, they just aren't ready yet.

Kind of like the current soldier units...cigars, brush cuts and all.  I like my entertainment to be more entertaining than realistic, but that's just me.  Keep up the good work!!  I really appreciate the open-source community and this project in particular.

Some new graphics are on the way, We've been working on new models to replace the existing ones, new graphics and such, although much of them won't be in 2.3 but might be in 2.4 or later.

A 2.4?!?!? Woo hoo!
