Linux / Re: Problem with libxvidcore (solved)
« on: June 08, 2010, 10:40:55 pm »
I have the same problem on openSuSE 11.2. The end of my ./configure output is
checking xvid.h usability... yes
checking xvid.h presence... yes
checking for xvid.h... yes
checking for xvid_decore in -lxvidcore... no
configure: error: You must have libxvidcore!!!

I uninstalled all pre-packaged *xvid* packages. I built and installed xvid. This seemed OK
  D: /usr/local/lib
  I: /usr/local/lib/
  I: /usr/local/lib/libxvidcore.a
  D: /usr/local/include
  I: /usr/local/include/xvid.h

aha just got it! (I will still post this - it may help someone else).

sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/ /usr/local/lib/

the configure script is missing the so.4.2, so a symlink helps. I did this with my own xvid build, but this may have worked with the packaged version.

Winter was on IRC today, BTW.

I like it. I particularly like the plucked string synth around 2 min.

still not a fan of the chord progression around 40s.

the poll question is poorly formed.

Hoehrer wrote on the wiki FAQ (April 2007) that proximity mines "will be implemented for sure".

Unfortunately Hoehrer has had less time for UFO of late.

I (rarely) use tortoise.

you could try the command line interface.

the link from the wiki page ( worked for me last time (which was some months ago)

most of your first paragraph is covered by the todo list.

for pity's sake shut up about destructible terrain. maybe use the search before posting to check if your comment is useful. this one is not. indeed, it has become an irritation.

XCOM was 3D in only a very limited sense. once you have worked out how to do binary space partitioning in real time and communicate the results over the net in a sensible time for multiplayer, you may bring that up again.

I tried astyle, it did some very silly indenting. maybe i missed something.

if you have svn version, you don't need archive files.

Mapping / Re: tex_common/stepon not found

no maps should contain any references to the stepon flag or texture. in the current trunk, i am fairly sure there are none

Feature Requests / Re: Request: GUI Blending

there are plans to improve the look. though progress is slow.

raxar has not been seen in a while, so this particular contribution is unliikely to feature.

Translating / Re: German writing style
« on: September 28, 2008, 11:19:29 am »
in places, I think the original English needs a more scientific writing style.

invention of the word "amperage" springs to mind. (note: voltage is not scientific style either, should be potential difference. engineers and fitters tend to be sloppy about this).
