Mac / 2.5_dev crash
« on: February 13, 2013, 05:29:36 pm »
I tried yesterday's 2.5_dev version and it crashed. I got a resolution shift, then a dark screen, then a crash report :(.

Mac / latest installer

Is still hanging my mac entirely.. See attached log files & save.

I noticed that it does flash the screen every 20 seconds or so, and the hard drive sounds like it normally does when I have nothing going on. But I cannot get away from UFOAI. Perhaps it tries to go fullscreen in X11 or something? That always disables regular Mac app switching..

Mac / bugs (in Mac version at least)
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:50:24 am »
I enjoyed getting Mattn's new package and running it, and for a while I had a good game running. Until it crashed and made my computer irresponsive..

Some bugs that I found:
* It is not obvious that you have to press a button to switch to a new resolution. I found myself in 1024x768 and because of the window decoration, that means the bottom of the window is pushed offscreen, which makes in impossible to scroll down. This can be solved by rotating, but it is just tedious. As all recent Macs are widescreen, I suggest making 1152x720 the starting resolution, unless you are aiming for older Macs as well (as in iBooks).
* After I got my first UFO, I could only sell it because I do not have a UFO yard. I thought I was supposed to keep it in a workshop. Or maybe that is the default, but it was not obvious.
* I had a nasty crash as soon as my second ground mission came up that kept me from switching away, and therefore made the whole MacBook irresponsive. I had to switch it off and back on to get anywhere, which is very bad form. I stupidly forgot to get the logs and they were overwritten when I started it again.

Will try more. My basic gripe is the the UI is not intuitive in some features.

Mac / Alternate route for UFO:AI on Mac: Wine
« on: February 13, 2011, 12:39:49 pm »
Hey everyone,

Given that the standard Mac version is broken, I tried running the PC version of UFO:AI in Wine.

I used Wineskin with Wine 1.2.2 and 1.3.13 but in both, the game crashed just after the opening setup screen (the one where you choose languages).

I haven't tried Crossover 10, so if anyone has that and is willing to ry it out, I would be happy to hear the results.

Best wishes,
 Oscar

Tactics / Weapon comparison data
« on: June 21, 2010, 04:00:16 pm »
First of all, let me add my voice to the chorus of congratulations on the release of 2.3 ;D

I also have a question: are the weapon comparison data found at http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Weapon_tables up to date? Most of the tables date back to january 2008, and I dimly recall posts to the effect of rebalancing the weapons.

best wishes,
 Oscar

Mac / Crash on entering battlescape
« on: February 28, 2010, 01:14:39 pm »
I tried the ufoai-2.3-dev-macosx-i386_r28688.dmg.

First thing I noticed is that the e-mail texts are not included.
Second thing is that manufacturing seems to take forever. It took a mont to make a single IR goggle with 10 workers. I'd like to see an estimated time to completion of a manufacturing run.
Third thing is that the research completion percentage might be rounded off to the nearest %.

Then I got a crash at the battlescape when entering a terror mission.

best wishes,
 Oscar

Crash log is attached. UFO console log to follow
