Hello all,

I've been playing Destructavator's latest build for Windows (r29356) and noticed a problem with base building that I've been meaning to mention for a while. If you add a building to your base by mistake (for example you placed a laser battery when you meant to place a missile battery), and immediately go to correct your mistake, your only choice is to destroy the building, which means that you have lost all the credits. I can understand losing the credits when you destroy a fully built building, but when no time has even elapsed, I think there should be a more elegant way to correct your mistake that does not cost any credits. Maybe a remove button for a building that has no construction completed? Or maybe even a formula that refunds credits based on percentage of completion? Zero completion would equal full refund, and 100% completion would equal no refund, with a sliding scale for refunds in between?

Also, couple minor things:

1. When loading the +forest map, the loading screen displays the picture with the text "Little bungalo in the forest". That should be "Little bungalow in the forest".

2. I placed a base in Asia, but the text is a little strange. If you look at the attached screenshot, it says "A new base has been built: Base Asia (nation: The Commenwealth of Oceania). However, the base is clearly nowhere near Oceania.

Neither of these are big problems, but I thought I should mention them now for when you have more time to fix the small things.  :)

Feature Requests / Number of problems found in Windows 2.3 build (21212)
« on: December 27, 2008, 11:52:03 pm »
I've noticed a few problems when playing with Destructavator's latest Windows build of 2.3 (rev. 21212), some of which have been around for awhile, so I thought it best to report them.

1. When I start a new game, as soon as I click on the second message in the Maillist (Proposal:Electromagnetic Rifle), the game crashes to the desktop with an assertion error:

File: F:\UFOai\src\renderer\r_state.c
Line 58
Expression: texnum > 0

Happens every time. If I run the game in safe-mode, the error doesn't occur (but of course sound is gone).

2. A couple of terror missions in South America (specifically, city name is Cayenne), the text reports an attack on an "African" village.

3. I have a jungle-based terro mission that won't run. Crashes to desktop with following assertion:

File: F:\UFOai\src\client\cl_le.c
Line: 117
Expression: lm -> model

4. I know stairs and pathfinding are apparently buggy at the moment. However, there are many areas on all maps that I cannot move onto at all. It's almost like there are invisible lines around some tiles that soldiers can't cross. Is this the problem with pathfinding?

Thanks,
Ken

Feature Requests / Couple of small annoyances on Geoscape
« on: November 20, 2008, 06:16:30 pm »
Running r20247 of 2.3 dev (Windows OS). I have a couple of minor annoyances that it would be nice to get fixed when you get a chance:

1. When you put the mouse cursor on the time accelarate arrow to speed up time, and spin the mousewheel, the hint bubble (I think that the right term) obsures the actual time setting, so you can't actually see how much you have sped time up by.

2. When you build a new base in some areas, the text for the base name is intermixed with the text for name of the continent (both in white lettering), and it's impossible to read either. It would be nice if one or the other could be moved so it would be possible to read both. Alternatively, I'm more interested in the base name, so you could just hide the continent name.

Feature Requests / Hidden alien in version 2.2.1?
« on: August 31, 2008, 10:54:44 pm »
I don't know if this is a known problem or not, but I finished off all the aliens in a map, but the mission did not end, and the last alien never did make an appearance. I ended my turn about 20 more times and nothing happened. The only thing I could do was abort the mission, which of course killed all my soldiers. Obviously, I don't want to do that too many times.  When I aborted, it said one alien survived. I looked everywhere, but couldn't find it. Is it possible for aliens to get stuck inside structures when the map is being drawn? Anyway, it's the map terrain02d, where you go through a house and across (or around) a concrete walkway over a culvert.
