FAQ / GETdeb and PLAYdeb are left for good. Any replacement?

Regarding the official post on GetDeb's G+ stream, these servers - getdeb and playdeb - are closed forever. R.I.P.

To leaders of the project.

Recently I've contacted with Andrey Bolshakov. Now he's a chief-editor of MusicBox e-zine, in past he was the music composer of most of songs of "Aria" rock-group. This group is well-known in Russia and counts about 20 years of famous history.

I've asked Andrey, if he will agree with inclusion of one of his songs into the game's OST (original soundtrack). The song discussed was the instrumental version of "Встань, страх преодолей!" - "Vstan', strakh preodolEy!" - "Get up and defeat your fears!".

Andrey agreed to contribute this song to the game's OST and waits for necessary instructions: he's new to CC-like licensing. Also I am.

I will prepare OGG preview file before 10:00GMT, but what should he do to release that song under CreativeCommons license? Should he sign some papers or his e-mailed words would be enough?

Discussion / About destructible objects

Well-well, I've read that the destructable environment is too hard to be created because of limitations of Q2 engine. But how about few destructible objects?

For example, on "Convoy" map I was very surprised seeing the fuel reservoirs (cisterns) taking explosions and shots without any problem. Such models should be made "half-destructible": the lorry itself may remain undestructable regardless of any condition, but the fuel cistern MUST explode after being shot. And it must spill the "napalm" around, causing more damage to nearby (non)human beings.

Also, I still will suggest to enter the "bots" into game. At least, on some maps, where the military personnel exists. Wouldn't you agree that it looks very strange that the camouflage-wearing men do not even try to resist aliens on "Bunker" and "Convoy" maps? And police guys from "Convoy" (well, the police car may be wrecked and the officers could be dead). These bots may be not too smart, they can simple fire in directions where they see an enemy without exact aiming.

Hi!

Played that windows-version. Nice. But...

1. The Firebird has been sent to terror site. I've saved a game when it was in one flight hour off the site. Loaded game back. My transporter now just above its homebase with almost half exhausted fuel tanks and now I must to return to base for refuelling, losing about 20 hours already spent for the travel.

2. Soldiers with bolter rifle behaves theirselves very strange: going through the walls, can't move to nearest (2-4TU) location, trying to trip around. Sometimes I can see blinking deep-blue line in left-bottom corner of the screen when such soldier moves.

3. Missile defenses also displays strange behavior: they're built and powered, but does not allow to install weapons during nearest few days: "this item will be installed in 48hrs" displayed for more than game week.
Why not to display all 4 slots without waiting for buying enough TR-20 pods? What does the "missile" button do? I have two missile bases, but can't switch them with that button.

4. Secondary base's crew captured "alien propulsion". That base have no labs and I've transferred the engine to "research base". Transfer was completed, but I can't see a.p. in items list and can't start a research.

5. What are "alien materials"? They can't be learned, useless for sale. What can I do with them?

6. BTW. What about make music & sounds disabled at all? I love the temes, esp. "Dawn - Dammerung" (oh, more such melodies, please!) but sometimes the music makes me mad. Please, do not propose to turn off the speakers or slide volume controls to silent positions: I need a way to turn sounds on and off, retaining the volume once set.

7. Why I still can't enter the supply ship?

8. Not a question. Just a thought. On the supply ship mission one orthnok killed another. And it was not a friendly fire: 1st pursued 2nd for few steps, came close and fired plasma blaster. Was it panic, or temporary insanity?

In order to avoid confusion, the two-hands weapon should be drawn in both hand-slots. Probably - dimmer in one of them.

BTW, why the soldier excluded from Firebird's crew lose all his weapons and munition? Why can I sell the equipment already in hands? It was terrific when I sold "excessive" bolter and magazines and my crew arrived to mission with only half of men armed? (undarmed was forced to use secondary weapons of those who did not lose their in-hand guns)

As to panicked aliens... Their panic state makes me worry on them. May be there could be a way to hand-fight (or even cuff) the unarmed alien who is sitting in "resingation pose" without stunner/gas?

Anyway, guys, GREAT job you done!
