I'm trying to remove the laser weapons from my mod, but, it doesn't works. I removed all laser weapons and D-F cartridges from "research.ufo" files, except base defense and laser cannon. I modified the equipement.ufo files removing all laser weapons.

The games launch, but when i select a campaing, the intro is skipped to the geoscape and i can't build my first base.

What i need to change?

Linux / UFO AI crash

Recently, i installed UFO:AI from PlayDeb on my ubuntu 14.04. I can launch the game and begin, but for some reason, it freeze without any reason. I save two games but after the freeze i can't load them again.

Some advice? Thanks.

I´m linux user, but i don´t understand how to compile the game. It´s possible to get it in a .deb package?

I was thinking about this idea. Mankind is fighting an advanced alien force, right? It´s very difficult to discover all their secrets in one month or one year. How to build an alien aircraft or an alien-like aircraft? yes, i talk about the Dragon, Starchaser, Stingray... i mean, these are awesome designs, but what about using the captured alien crafts? It could be more realistic because the research limits to use the crafts, not build alien-like crafts. This can solve two problems (at least for me): first, the most faster dropship begun to be available later in the game. So, if the UFO Fighter or UFO Scout can land (there are maps with this), it could be nice to take this craft for human use. You have an armed dropship and figther. The research can be directed to "mod" the UFO, for example, putting human weapons. The second one, the realism of the game. Yes, it´s a game, but it´s the best game, so, if we can do the story more realistic, it could be better (at least for me  ;D).

An UFO Figther can transport six soldiers. This is a very efficient way to transport faster, longer and safe.

If the idea don´t like for the official game, how can i implement? I only need to put the UFO Figther on each map instead the Firebird, right?

The second matter, put the soldiers inside. How can i do this?

Third, the aircraft screen. It need a new graphic file to show it? Or i can use the research model?

Linux / What´s wrong with the 2.5 data file download?

The download file of 2.5 is damaged or something. I dowloaded two times and the files send me an error when i try to extract.

Windows / Video resolution

I have a problem with the video resolution. I have a 1366 x 768 resolution on my windows, but when i enter the game, the best one is 1024 x 768. I tried to change using the console but the screen only expand, deforming the entire game.

I´m  playing 2.4 on linux too and with 1366 x 768 resolution my game adjust fine to the screen, no black places at the sides and no deforming.

What can i do for resolve this? Thanks

When the fighters are at 50% of damage, the craft doesn´t repair. I must sell the aircraft and buy another one.

I think this is a bug.

Feature Requests / Body parts armour

I'm playing 2.5 and i remember that in XCOM, the armour have body points, for example, armour protect 10 hp at head but 30 hp at chest.

I think, why don't use it in UFO AI? now are wound system, so, i belive it would't be difficult to do it. Instead of RATING on armour, we can use body parts HP protection.

User modifications / Question for modding

Hi, nice to stay on this forum. This is a great game!

I`m playing 2.4 on linux. I`m triyng to do a new clip for assault rifle (armour piercing). I wrote the research and weapon_human files but my clip doesn`t works. I don`t know what i`m do wrong.

I only copy and paste the "rs_weapon_assault_ammo" and rename "rs_weapon_assault_AP_ammo" on the RESEARCH file and i copy and paste the "item assault_ammo" with the name "item assault_AP_ammo" on the weapon_human file.

Can anyone help me?

Another question. Where is the .txt files? i want to do some work on it, but in don`t know where they are.
