@Encha:

You have to use the correct editor to make maps for UFO:AI & that is UFORadiant. Read the wiki article about UFO:AI mapping !

Here  :o:
http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Mapping

Here you can download UFORadiant:
http://mattn.ninex.info/download/uforadiant-1.5-win32-r28750.exe

So if you really wanna help...

so i'm guessing it's not the editor you supplied with the game then?

but it's simlar to it. by a .5 margin in the versions.

and yes Mattn. i did know.

H-hour - thanks on the shot feedback. just something i made in few hours. i havent really put any work into it in like a month or two. been to busy.

and youre City RMA Looks really nice good job.

if i manage to find some spare time. i'll make you a few zones / maps :)

which do you think looks harder to use.

the editor you use or the one i have to use?

top picture the Doom Editor.  im guessing that's what it is.

and bottom the Unreal3 Editor, with a sample map im in middle of producing.

well that does look really simple to use.

i just browsed over the map edit myself. to curious to its looks.

compared to Maya, or  Unreal 3 Editor. it looks piss easy.

but is'nt it easyer to just right click the file and goto rename?

it would'nt alter the contents of the file...

so the uppercase ones he sent you. are easyily changed.

Whoa...   I'm just explaining how the design for this particular project goes, that it attempts to be as realistic as possible - I'm not trying to start a big argument or really put you on the defensive - Please don't take it that way.

i know Destro. i didnt mean to sound defensive. its just how i read things from time to time. i'm dyslexic so i have troubles reading things so from time to time i get the wrong point on how someone says something. but its all cool.

You know why they call "Plasma TVs" plasma?

yeah i know that fact but i was more less talking about Weaponary, Grenades, Cannons  etc.  not the actual Tv's we have IRL.

technology is slowely happening yes. but not as everyone else see's it. ofc.

If you look around popsci.com theres some articles of some laser weapons on planes, one on a laser truck, and one on the Air Force using a spaceship with the manuverability of a airplane that is currently in classification black and has a test launch this month. Or was that popular mechanics...

yeah i know thier thinking about mounting some laser type weapons on to military type aircraft as a means to shoot down incoming missles, RPG type rockets something simlar, i didnt read the entire article.

although theres alot of weapons that dont even exist in real life. in UFO games.  whether its laser, plasma, fusion. but still you have them in games...

Quote
a "reason" - the only hope a new energy/laser/whatever weapon would have of making it into this game would be if someone actually built one in real life that really functions - meaning it would be possible to really exist.

non of this technology exists in real life. but it's still put into games. that are specifically viewed on Alien invasions or takeovers. or sci fi.

half the stuff they put in UFO games or Xcom, dont really exist. it's fictional. but it plays and people use them. not because they don't exist in real life or have actually been built.

but non the less it was a idea. not a request.

i had this concept from a old FPS MMO i used to play called Neocron. i dont know if a simlar thing exists in the game you have or not. just an idea.

ive tried searching the net but theres no real ingame picture to use as reference. but they came in simlar shapes to each other. different colours for the stages that there was.

mk1 being blue, mk2 yellow , mk3 gold/red ish.

Basically a Lazer Blade (laser) not to be confused with a star wars lightsaber. as its always on when in the hand.

you can see the Mk3 one in this youtube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFC-Xyl0Wck

and 2 of the best videos based on PVP there is. i think they some of the laserblades in action. not sure where. atleast the musics good listen to...
some the videos were speeded up even tho some last 10 mins. because the ingame wars lasted hours.

you briefly get to see one 2mins and 6 mins a brief moment also in the yellow one.

and 2 mins in the red one here. and blue

its seen here. not in action...

Artwork / Re: Intro animation
« on: April 08, 2010, 01:15:21 pm »
What I'd do would be an animation in a style similar to this one (you might have already seen it):

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1wygv_iraq-animation

It's basically a series of well done drawings. The camera moves from one spot to another and all things come alive, they seem to move even though they're mostly static. I think it's realtively easy to do (it's certainly easier to do than a full blown 3D movie) and it wouldnt consume a huge amount of time to get it done.

Oh and if there's no chance for a simple but good looking intro then I'd suggest having no intro at all :D

he doesnt say F**k for more than 10-15 secs before he says it again lol

in any day and age where computers and games are involved age.. means Bugger all.

it's self determination, a dream..  dedication to learn something new and improve on it.

and experience.

way i got my level design job wasnt through grades or degreee's.  to be honest my grades suck.
but they set me on based on my learning curve is easyer, faster. and i'm determined to learn and improve on what i do. and i kinda got some previous experience with world building. so that was a plus.

but dont let age get you. Age isnt everything. its the experience and know how that does it.

it wouldnt matter if you were 8 or 78, if youve never done something before and wanted to give it a try. and did good at it.  they would use it. simple as :)
