In my experience UFOAI works ok on open drivers. (DELL Vostro 3560 - Radeon 7670m,  kernel 3.15 + mesa 10.1.5  + xorg 1.14). I believe your hardware shoud be enough to runthe ghame @1920x1080 with almost maxxed details (maybe except full-screen antialiasing).  Caltalysts may provide higher FPS at cost of bugs and crashes.

Linux / Re: 2.5 release RPM packages for Fedora available

Hi,

First of all thanks for the packaging 2.5 release, it made this weekend gone so fast :D. While playing campaign I found there are few maps mising, namely Old Mine and Office.
There's no trace of those  maps in the map package. May I ask you to confirm checkout from repo is missing those two too?

BTW wouldn't it make sense to submit your spec file to RPMFusion? They have all the infrastructure to build the packages making it easy to provide packages for current and future Fedora releases.

Actually installing ufoai in fedora is quite staight forward.
First you need to add rpmfusion repos to your packet manager config. (if you haven't done it yet)
You need to dl and install those two rpms:
http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm

Then it's enough to install ufoai package
For exapmle if you're using yum, type in console as root:

yum install ufoai
That's all, all the nessesary packages will be installed as dependencies of main ufoai package.
Source package is for those who want to build rpms on their own (to tweak complier options, add some extra patches and so on)

Feature Requests / Item transfer list suggestion

I think ability to transfer more items per click would be most welcome.
It could be the way buy/sell is done (amount per click selector), a slider, type entry pop-up window or repeat on click-and-hold.. Anything to make it faster and less tedious.
Moving 3000 of alien materials from base to base with 1 click-1 unit is not fun and hurts my wrist :/

Is it this new glosyy (with glare surface) one? Those artificially enchance contrast to get more vivid colors, but also make dark scenes pitch black and bright almost white.

I'd suggest to add monitor type (crt/ lcd/ glossy lcd) It might be the issue.
I'm on old crt display, I had to bump gamma to 1.3 to be able to see anything more than bunker entrances in this screenie posted by BTAxis.
IIRC there's separate 2D and 3D gamma correction (at least that's the case of ATI Catalyst drivers).

Night missions looks ok to me (ie it's dark as it should be @night, but you can see something) Anyway, nightvision googles or some flares implemented still would be more than welcome. I think something like nv gogles in syndicate wars would be good enough..

As a sidenote sometimes shot down ufo missions get their daytime messed up. I've landed in the middle of the day to find myself in night mission. I'll make separate post when it happend next time.
