Unfortunately I work in 3dmax so I can't help you.
And about the model face count: Yes its a high-poly model for baking maps. I will prepare low-poly version afterwards.

I think the problem is in showing the interior of the head in 3d. I think game engine doesn't support material's opacity and showing it in 2d texture might look not so good.
...but I will try to think of something :)

Design / Psi-amplifier concept
« on: January 25, 2013, 11:22:51 am »
Hi,
While remodeling the "tank" vehicle, I've made a quick concept of a suggested psi amplifier. I know its a late game content, but its good to have something to discuss.

It looks fragile as it suppose to.
It hasn't any weapons system.
Long legs gives a good movement capabilities
And I think it associate with psi abilities. :)

P.S. I made two "brain" surfaces and I think it looks better without any texture.

That is true geever. I was trying to make something different a new unique shape, that wouldn't look like ordinary tank.
Just as H-Hour wrote, I removed rotable mounted weapon because game doesn't support rotating weapon yet. Ofcourse it is not a problem to add a socket on top for future weapon change.
If this tank would be used as a human UGV it would require a little hull change. I could make a different hull for each weapon (RPG, chaingun, laser, plasma,  etc.)

Hi
I didn't want to make another thread about Alien Tank, so i post in here.
I also made a tank concept. There are opinions that it could also be player-controlled UGV. I think it fits better as an Alien Tank, but I want to know your opinion.
It's not yet textured and needs more polishing but it shows a general idea.

I don't use any algorithms and everything is made by hand. It is because pictures I use as a base, are not unify in style and camera angle. I also modyfy mesh while texturing. That is why its easer for me to work individually with every face.
I'm looking forward to lay hands on pictures you will provide ;)

Here is a little preview how it looks like.

Thanks Latino210 for being first volunteer. I managed to make two simple textures. Here is a preview. If You could send me more detailed pictures (a better quality) it would make a great difference.
As for any other forum member that wish to join our little project, if you dont want to show images to public forum, You can send them directly to me with a PM.

I used a Photo Shop filter :)

I almost done a few crash sites and it looks something like this.
Now it only needs some texture improvements (like on last picture) and It will be ready  to go.
Thanks for all encouraging words. It really gives a motivation boost :)

Ok.
I just finished the main model. Curently I'm making crashed version. I know mapping isn't perfect but model is wrapped so changing texture isn't a big deal.
Mattn, I will sent to you whole package (models textures and rest) as soon as I finish crashed part.

Thanks H-Hour,
In that case, I'll focus on "crashing" existing model and leave this project until more importaint things are done.

Hi,
Im making crashed verisions of each alien ship. Already done scout and fighter. Now I wanted to make a supply ship but, to me, existing model looks more like a human craft compared to design of both smaller ship. That's why i wanted to make a few modifications before tearing model to parts ;). I've made 2 versions of craft and wanted to know your opinion whether to change the existing model or leave it as it is and just make it crashed.

Ofcourse I will texture it the same way scout and fighter are now.

Here you have pictures of both ships compared to a model of fighter.
