Windows / Can't start a new campaign.

I just downloaded this and when ever I choose to start a new campaign or click a tutorial it immediately closes down. (EDIT: Same goes for skirmish)
I'm using 2.3 and Vista but unfortunately I fail with computers so I have absolutely no clue what other information would be helpful. Any help would be appretiated and Ill be poking back here frequently while playing X-Com on dosbox.
