Found it. Getting an access denied. I looked at the console, and the last messages dealt with an alien being revitalized (team 7). Then couldn't move actor, and server crash.

Will add some logs next time it happens. Just wanted to get the message up and if it was a known issue with a work around I could drive on with my airborne mission.

I have had a number of battles lately where during the alien phase of a battle, the game will exit back to geoscape. There will be a system message, "Campaign Successfully Saved". This has happened in a number of crashed ufo missions of different types. The mission is available to run still, i just have to move the dropship off the location enough to come back to the drop spot. Will get more detailed data if needed.

I went from one terror to another without going back to base and found my soldiers all fully rearmed. Is this a design, or bug? Fictionally, if they are rearming from the aircraft, could they run to the aircraft for additional weapons during a mission?

Smoke grenades are my new crack. I'd say its the most important weapon in your arsenal if you are just a starting out noob like me.

Is there a benefit to adding additional missile/laser defenses to a base? Somewhere the text said "You already have one" which tells me its no benefit to have another.

I'm at the start of a campaign and my workshops don't have any urgent projects. It seems that mundane items, even the plasma pistols cost the same amount to make as to sell. Is there anything I can have my engineers working on to earn credits if they aren't otherwise occupied?

Never kill with one shot what you can SAFELY kill with 20.
Never auto missions. You get no loot, the civilians usually all die, and you kill with NO shots, so no skill practice/gains.

The point here is get your stat gains in where you can. 
There is never a point inthe game where your soldiers do not benefit from more target practice.
A long protracted firefight with lots of hits, lots of maneuvering, and your soldiers carrying enough to break a sweat will benefit you FAR more than three GL bursts on airburst.

As we used to say in the Army: Training is everything, and Everything is training.

Is there a way to just drop a smoke grenade at your feet without lob/roll and it will pop smoke?

Kind of a pain to register. And the engine won't accept "His right hand" for the girlfriend question.
