I can't find no such "gamedir" var in my log (see attachment).

I posted my en.mo already (see above), which was build with this install/download. I have no clue how, I should get an "up-to-date" one.

I launched the game with "ufo +set fs_i18ndir /usr/share/locale", but I still see only the placeholders.

Hello,
the data.tar (at sourceforge) for 2.4 is incomplete, resulting in lots of placeholders in the wiki and intro (see attached screenshot). Please fix this, thanks.

Feature Requests / Increase hit chance on consecutive shots
« on: November 17, 2013, 03:58:03 am »
The idea is that consecutive shots on the same target would make it (a little) easier to hit it, since you already have an aim on the target.

Of course this only applies, if neither the attacker nor the target has moved in between. I.e. this is only a temporary bonus within one round / attack sequence.

Not so sure about the numbers, these should either be static or ideally calculated from the raw hit chance.
For static I would go with:
+2% hit chance on the 1. consecutive shot, when former shot did NOT hit.
+1% hit chance on the 2. consecutive shot, when former shot did NOT hit.

+4% hit chance on the 1. consecutive shot, when former shot DID hit.
+3% hit chance on the 2. consecutive shot, when former shot DID hit.

In case of a dynamic calculated bonus, there should be a higher bonus on targets with a low hit chance vs. targets with higher hit chance.
I could also come up with a formula, but first I would like to know if a dynamic hit bonus like this is supported by the game engine and ofc if the devs are interested in this. :-)

Feature Requests / Re: A few ideas for bases
« on: November 17, 2013, 03:27:21 am »
Yes: TBH, I don't like the idea to degrade our engineers to bricklayers...
My saying, +1

And before you ask: Hangars come with mechanics who repairs and refills the aircraft.
But this doesn't fit with the fact, that you have to build living quarters and beds aren't reduced with hangars... Or do the mechanics also sleep in the hangars? ;-)

I agree with you that the aircraft repair should be queued in the Workshop. This would also correct the current design flaw, that hangars do not need any personal. This would mean the pilots repair, maintain and refill their aircraft all by themselves  :o - very unlikely...

However, I totally not agree with you on the building part. These "workers" are rather engineers (I think they are also somewhere referenced as this), than workers who use a shovel and carry bricks around...
So IMHO construction of building should stay outsourced and not performed by your small team of specialists.

Windows / Re: "[2.5 is stable]" - H-Hour
« on: November 06, 2013, 11:50:29 pm »
No doubt about 2.5 not beeing stable. But this is more an "official" questions, in the sense that 2.5 should be marked/released as a stable by the project.

For example I'am also playing ufo:ai on my linux distro. And ofc my distro (as most other distros, too) ship only stable apps/games in there repos. I.e. if there is no 2.5 stable, I (and many other linux users, too) can not play 2.5... :-(

Any news on this topic, ie a stable 2.5 release?

Still on 2.4 stable here and looking forward to play 2.5. :-)
