Hello!

I played a few weeks (in game time) and it seems to run quite well on my machine. One problem, however: the world map is always on “night-mode”, even though the battles aren't. Besides this, I haven't got any problem (10.6.8 )

Good day, sirs!  8)

I have experienced the same problem as the above posters; it gives me exactly the same error —so it seems the cause it's pretty clear— but I also can't find the config.cfg file at all, even searching the invisible files... I'm thinking that the game doesn't create a config.cfg and that's what it says about it at the terminal:

I can provide the full report, if you desire, but it looks a lot like the other reports

So you could either give us foolproof instructions to tinker with default.cfg —which I also haven't found anywhere— or some step-by-step terminal magic, as we seem a bunch of clueless users :)

Hi!

I was playing a game this morning. I haven't tried yet the solution you gave for the music problem —I'll try it later— but I want to report a problem I had in the last battle: I was moving a soldier from one point to another —I didn't do anything strange— and the game moved out to geoscape. Here's the console log:

The geoscape error doesn't seem to leave any comments on ufoconsole. Down is a screenshot

The key problem continues even though I have deleted keys.cfg file. Only happens with 'x' - reserve TU —all the others (rotate map, change actor, crouch, etc...)— work well

Hi!

I downloaded the latest version and I think it works quite well (10.5.8). However, there are some issues I think I must comment:

- First of all, I can't hear any music and only some sounds, but not all. The behaviour seems erratic and I can't see any report on the console that gives me any clue

- Seeing the latest answer, this bug could be known/related also: in a mission (urban map, IIRC), one of my soldiers died but I decided to finish with the mission. When I killed all those little blue-ish guys —it showed me all the civilians and that—, the game jumped out to the geoscape without any endgame screen, the mission wasn't done AND my soldier wasn't dead —think about a second chance in live—; I could replay the mission normally, however I didn't finished it. Nevertheless, all the other missions which I have finished —so far with 0 KIA— have not given me any problems with the endgame screens and such.

- The geoscape doesn't display the day/night cycle at all. The map is illuminated —perhaps a little too much—, the lights —as if it was nighttime— of the cities appear on the map but it's always even brighter than daytime. A minor problem, anyway.

- This one is more of a “usability problem” than a bug ;) In my second battle, I picked an alien plasma weapon. Obviously, I didn't have the tech researched, so I couldn't fire it, but I could reserve TU for reaction fire with it! I didn't check extensively if it could shoot or not —I think it couldn't—, but I believe that in the first place the option shouldn't be there.

- TU reservation for reaction fire is at this point quite glitchy, and for whatever reasons the game doesn't accept the shortcut (when I press 'x', it displays: “player: togglereaction” fire on the screen, but it does not activate anything). However, RF itself seems to work ok.

If there's anything more I could do in order to be more helpful/accurate, say it to me and I'll try to do it if I can :)


I'm glad to see the game is slowly getting better and better, and it's quite a pleasant feeling :) And a lot of thanks for letting us play with the dev-versions.

Hi!

I downloaded the dev version yesterday and it feels quite well. However, there are some loose ends:
- The first battle I played had all my characters replaced by “blobs”, and even some of them had alien heads! Curiously enough, the only soldier that I had well displayed hadn't any armor on; all the others had armor on and were “blobs”. All the other characters —aliens, civilians— had their correct textures. Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot.
- When I tried to play a second battle to reproduce the error —and to kill some more aliens!—, the game crashed —it was an Africa map—.

- Today I tried to play again that Africa map: the first time, surprinsingly enough, it worked and all my soldiers had their correct textures! However, I reloaded to give an armor to that soldier who didn't wear one and this second time the game crashed when loaded the same map. Here's the console log:

I didn't have any problem with the other functions of the game, it all worked pretty well. BTW, how does reaction fire work in this version? The game didn't reserve any TUs for reaction fire even when I selected it. However, the soldiers shot the alien, although I think that's because I manually reserved.

EDIT: I replayed that map and I again had those display problems. This time I took some screenshots, however I'm dismayed to see that the game saves them in Users/~~/.ufoai/2.3-dev/base. Anyway I could make the game save them in another place that it wasn't an invisible folder? I don't think that's particularly bright :(

First of all, many thanks for undertaking this work for all of the computer illiterates here! :) I was getting somewhat jealous of those windows users with so many dev builds :P

But —there's always a but— the app also doesn't run on my system (10.5.8-). Here's the terminal output:
