We have the scout and the fighter that really can't be boarded.  Then we have the harvester with it's two decks.  During the time between initial contact of the aliens until the plot elements beginning, how about an intermidiate medium sized ship functioning as a heavy fighter/frigate ship that is basically a smaller harvester to break up some of the earlier missions.

I would definitely like to see the inclusion of the planned heavy platforms.  But, I think that their deployment should only be from the deploying aircraft, not prepositioned like some maps have the soldiers.  However, we should remember that these operations are more like SWAT, SEAL or Delta incursions, not platoon or company warfare.  Small unit tactics prevail in this guerilla type warfare.

Thanks.  I may try that.  However, I didn't have any problems yesterday with the newest update.  This update seems to far more stable than the previous updates and I am enjoying the game.  I would still prefer to have several more troopers or a heavy platform, maybe Version 2.5?

I would add that this can be a problem only when you are streaming some of the audio such as radio or youtube and want to have just the (gunfire) Fx sounds.  I do this alot.  I personally like to play Bear McCreary's Battlestar Galactica soundtracks in the background.  Hopefully, this will further clarify reasons to address this particular issue.

Unforntunately, I started over after realizing that the other bug (after killing the last alein in the battlescape) was fixed.  These files were overwritten.  After playing some yesterday and this morning, this version, other than some in game music issues seems very steady.  [Lindy tips flightcap for developer's hard work.]

As a suggestion, by the soldiers picture, the rank icon should be added...

Today's update build 1306568813.  After applying the new update, I tried to reload my previous saved games.  After selecting the saved file, the game reverts to the opening menu.  I then started a new campaign game, saved and left the game.  Restarted, and the new saved game worked, but not the previous versions' save game.

Plasma Rockets would be a great idea.

The problem is AWACs a/c is that they tend to operate far from a base.  Any alien a/c would knock it out before back up fighters could protect it unless our fighter a/c had a protrol mode.

I am definitely having the same problem in the latest development build.  However, knowing about the bug is easy to work around.  LOS does not seem to be a problem.

I believe, somewhere, I mentioned introducing the Vipon/Snakeman alien.  This guy was always cold-blooded and difficult an aversary.  Like to go up against him agian, someday...
