Oooooo, tat would prob evolved from the highly-sex-oriented japanese (who are very good at such innovations, rmbr sex toys). Then again, this is not meant to be offensive. But was just reminded of CultureX the documentary. Yupz. I am sure the Japs will be first on such stuff - which should not be far off, since they have alot of robotics which are highly advance, and alot of human-skin-like materials already. :D

Wooooo...... it must be out of my era - this Cherry 2000. Lol.

Which is the common article u and BTAxis saw together? Got a linky?

We're going to assume the governments in UFO:AI do care about their citizens.

LOL just in UFO AI? the fact is governments only care about what keeps them in power.. and aliens invading would definitely threaten that power structure... To hell with the citizens.

Actually, thats a good idea. In the X-COM game, in the alien bases/UFOs, the fuel wasnt stored in a single, giant container, but in several smaller containers. If damaged, they sometimes blew up surrounding containers, and sometimes didnt.

which was really nerve wracking when you had 3 or 4 guys right by those elerium tanks and the aliens are firing down the hall and hitting the wall right by them.. and on rare occasions they would chain blow up.. one would cause the rest of them to explode.

I intend to become a Physicist, and do research on physics. My area of interest so far is particle physics, and since LHC experiment will work at the same time I'll be being introduced to research I guess I'll in theoretical particle physics. But hey, there are other problems in physics:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsolved_problems_in_physics

I also have some curiosity about quantum gravity, quantum chromodynamics, and other subjects.

Time will tell :P

my major isnt in science or physics.. Its actually history.. But perhaps you would care to explain how entanglement is possible... Seems entanglement and a few other things have really thrown the physics people into two groups... those that believe quantum physics and those that dont.

and rail guns are a lot more effective and cheaper folks... DOD has been working on weaponized lasers for 25 years and hasnt really moved up any stages... .... the key is weaponizing it for personal or even light vehicle use... And folks... that is a long way off... the power requirements are ridiculous and well.... We couldnt exactly get many volunteers to carry a mini nuclear power plant on their back...

Simply: Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

This is a strategy game. Why don't you request a green button labeled Win?

-geever

you must have never had idiots that would accidentally shoot the wall and kill half of the team....

it wasnt a garuntee win.. and remember the aliens had them too.

My first feeling was not fear but anger. Just cannot digest my favorite city being held for ransom by some terrorists. The governments must do some thing to save their citizens..

well the first thing they could do would be to arm them

You probably need to buy a new computer to play it, though.

i did buy a new computer to play it Axis :-p LOL

i guess ill throw my 2 cents in

Games i still regularly play

IL-2 1946 probably the best flight sim ever developed for ww2

Moo2  - If anyone here hasnt played moo2... well they should be slapped and given a computer to play it on

Civ 4 - beyond the sword - all the civ series is really good .. this one has again pushed the 4x genre to the top

Master of Magic - this game rocked.. period...

Xcom enemy unknown - im a sucker for this game i still love playing it

Medieval 2 Kingdoms with retrofit mod - friends and i are playing this as a hotseat play by email game.. i am playing turkey 1 is playing england and the other milan... its turning out to be quite fun..

Empire Total War - I've been playing this since it was released a month ago.. and well its got a lot of bugs and such... and needs to be ironed out before it can become a true classic

ufo AI - i am still waiting for the latest build to come out for windows so i can play it again.

BTW ive played all 4 games in the elder scroll series... and overall gameplay... Elder scrolls 3 MORROWIND is the best one... i logged over 1500 hours on my level 56 ranger character... including my favorite feature your own designed spells.. i had one called Superjump... jump 200 points for 1 second on self... i could jump across the island in 2 hops.. oblivion was ok but too small in my opinion... arena was good ... daggerfall was pretty decent also but morrowind was the best.

Tactics / Re: How are Heavy Weapons incorportated into squad tactics?
« on: April 04, 2009, 04:38:43 pm »
I don't think so. Sounds like a needlessly complicated game rule.

this is where programming overrules realism..... realistically suppression fire is not needless nor complicated... in fact.... its  a very basic principle of firearm combat and very important when you are in a firefight... the general rule is to keep your opponent(s) pinned down while your team moves in for the kill.... people especially the untrained tend to be very distracted while a wave of bullets is flying at them.

Speaking of latest real-world weaponry and sonic weapons please watch this presentation: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/woody_norris_invents_amazing_things.html

Maybe sonic weapons are not that far away as we think :>

The israelis have been using them for at least 2  years...

the non lethal versions anyway... the US DOD has several lethal sonic weapons... still classified... youd be amazed at the goodies that never hit the market or the mainstream military... all in the name of ethics and morals.... Really i thought when it came to killing people morality was one of those optional things.. apparently not...
