Mac / Re: OSX installers

Already listed my OSX as 10.6.8 above, although it appears this affects multiple/all versions.  For thoroughness, as I'm not sure what specs I should give, here is the automatically generated Apple report created when I tried to open the 2.3.1 files (the stable version, which is no longer available), minus some unnecessary/personally identifying data:

Code: [Select]
Process:         ufo [9862]
Path:            /Volumes/UFO: Alien Invasion 2.3.1/UFOAI.app/Contents/MacOS/ufo
Identifier:      net.sourceforge.UFOAI
Version:         ??? (???)
Code Type:       X86 (Native)
Parent Process:  launchd [105]

OS Version:      Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
Report Version:  6

Exception Type:  EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread:  0

Dyld Error Message:
  Library not loaded: /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/SDL_image.framework/Versions/A/SDL_image
Referenced from: /Volumes/UFO: Alien Invasion 2.3.1/UFOAI.app/Contents/MacOS/ufo
  Reason: image not found

Binary Images:
0x8fe00000 - 0x8fe4162b  dyld 132.1 (???) <A4F6ADCC-6448-37B4-ED6C-ABB2CD06F448> /usr/lib/dyld

Model: MacBookPro7,1, BootROM MBP71.0039.B0B, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, 4 GB, SMC 1.62f6
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M, NVIDIA GeForce 320M, PCI, 256 MB
Memory Module: global_name

The other -dev version I tried didn't even let me get far enough to create a report.

I'm willing to provide other information, but am honestly not sure what to send, short of every single spec under 'About This Mac.'

Furthering the confusion, if was the latter (21-Jan-2012) file that I downloaded.  But I agree with you completely, the .dmg created is not readable (?).  It's possible there is a workaround from our end, depending on the extent of the problem, but I have no real knowledge of .dmg files, and wouldn't be comfortable manually adjusting the file or whatever mechanism the computer uses to read it.  It looks like Mac users won't have access to new versions for the time being.  Is that an accurate conclusion?

Thanks for the info, that helps clear it up.  I downloaded the -dev version because the stable one was missing, and I assumed the -dev was a 'beta' test build.

Assuming that the problem is with the program, not my computer (although that may be wrong), where can I get the previous stable version of the game?  The download page still lists 2.3.1 as the current release.

(For any other commenters, obviously any info about the disk image/library issue would be welcome.)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  Just thinking about other new users like me, is there any reason the official download page is not updated with the correct file?

Also, when I looked at the snapshots last night, I saw one titled ufoai-2.3.1-macosx-i386, which is no longer available.  Why was the stable build taken off the page?

EDIT: I just downloaded ufoai-2.4-dev-macosx-intel, and like with the file I downloaded from the normal download page, it says the file can't be opened because the disk image is not recognized.  Do you know the cause of that?

I need some help getting through the installation process.  I just discovered the original XCOM a couple days ago, and when I found this I jumped for a chance to try it out.  However, id doesn't seem to be a simple plug-and-play download.  I am running OSX 10.6.8 and and downloaded the corresponding file, version 2.3.1 of the game.  However, simply trying to open the file gets me this:

Dyld Error Message:
  Library not loaded: /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/SDL_image.framework/Versions/A/SDL_image
Referenced from: /Volumes/UFO: Alien Invasion 2.3.1/UFOAI.app/Contents/MacOS/ufo
  Reason: image not found

I looked through http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Compile_for_Mac - however, most of it went far over my head, and I'm not even sure that information is what I need; I don't understand the tech at that level.

Is one of the files available from http://ufoai.ninex.info/snapshots/ what I need?  Am I missing just something stupid?
