You could also try eliminating the A pillar completely, merging the windshield and side windows.
Given the vehicle's purpose and it being seventy or so years in the future, I can see (read: hope) those things going away by then.

Also, for some reason, I am seriously reminded of the VW van. Pretty sure you know which one.

They have to be move around as well, ya know. Especially since at least the Stiletto, Firebird and Saracen probably were deisgned with typical hangars in mind just as much as the ones you use in game. Giving them skids would be kind of like shooting yourself in the leg before running off to war.

Come to think of it, from what I've seen, most helicopters using skids are rather light. The AH-1 (Cobra) is just under three tonnes, empty and a bit over four at max takeoff weight and the MH-6 (Little Bird) is a bit over 700 kilograms and 1400 at max takeoff. But that's just me guessing.

*This post would look so much better if the place had spoilers I could hide the pics in. But that's details.

Would you really need a huge nuke, though?
Because even a relatively small device could probably at least gut the vessel, assuming it is placed inside. Assuming most of the explosion would be contained inside the pocket of atmosphere that is the alien mothership. But I'm not sure if it'd actually work that way in real life.

Well, there's a long list of things you actually can fix with nukes. Overwhelming enemy opposition is pretty much the top of said list. And I'm pretty sure an alien invasion counts as that.
