i finally completed that mission.

the report was: 11 aliens and 13/68 item types/all recovered. i think the most items recovered in one mission untli now.

Maybe the bug is related to the total items present in one mission.

this time, when i succeded to complete the mission without gamecrash, i just loaded the savedgame and played the mission without doing anything else before that.

for the first time the game crushed before the end of one mission (in the 2nd round, just after i killed 3 aliens with 1 grenade).

this time i loaded the savedgame, i bought/sell some items, i reequipped the team and i started the mission.

i downloaded from the official page (sourceforge.net) several months ago.
the win32 release.

is this one available now another 2.3 version? should i try to download it again from the official page?


PS: my game is getting worse and worse ( now it crashes after only 2-3 missions). and is recovering only if i quit game, restart and load the savegame (if i only load a savegame but without quiting and restarting the game first, it crashes sooner).

hehe

i can kill all the enemies in the first round, even without cheating. In campain game, Fighter battle, when there are only 5 enemies.

i usually have:
- 3 snipers (with regular sniper rifles or 2 sniper rifles + 1 coilgun) - great for long ranged shots even in open fields (by taking enemies down from a long distance, so that they have less chances to hit my guys when they fire)
- 1 grenadier - with launcher !!! awsome fighter. i even consider to use 2 guys with grenade launchers (marvelous to kill enemes over an obstacle, behind a corner or through very thight spaces - also time grenade is excellent); he kills many aliens (along with the Heavy weapon guy).
- 1 heavy weapon guy - with machine gun (this guy usualy kills most enemies and gets the best promotions); i mostly use him with Full auto fire, taking care to get as many aliens as possible in a line (and kills 2-3-4 with only 1 shot)
- 2 assault - but i don't really find then so useful: no asssault weapon is very useful: laser rifles (one of the few full assault skill weapon) - even if is very accurate and long range, it inflicts very low damages; plasma rifles: good damage with burst or full auto, but innacurate; needle gun - the best assault weapon probably, but if you aim you need Sniper skill and if you use cannonade, you have to be very close, or else you mostly miss; and if you are so close, you better use a plasma blade instead...
- 1 close/fast unit - but also i doubt of his use....

PS: i don't use a medic since all my troops have a medikit and they can quicly heal closer units.

NOTE: there are the last 2 missions: the last one crashed at the end (after the experiece calculation). The one before last one didn't crash (but also didn't have any exp calculation). and note the lines marked with red:

there is where the first mission ends (the one that didn't crahs) and just after that some inventory slots are calculated: 180 !!! check how is this calculate and why it fails after exp calculation (that failed after the 2nd mission)

hi

how is the situation with that bug? i checked the tracker, but i see it is closed? is that bug fixed?

i play version 2.3, stable version, Windows, and that bug still occurs.


it occurs to me mostly when i complete a battlescape mission. After the last alien is killed, the error occurs.
aslo, that error occured several times in the base menu (after i bought/sold many items).

i noticed the error occurs after a mission, only if i haven't load the game for a while. For example, i save the game just before the missions start. If the error occurs after i complete the mission (and the game crashes), i load that close savegame and if i play the same mission again, the error won't occur again.


PS: i'm not very familiarised with programming, but i strongly believe that the error is related to buy/sell/storage situation (and also probably with the items recovered after a mission ends). After i load a saved game, some variables are probably rreseted?

are there any other topics where this bug is reported or discussed? (i didn't find a serious discussion about it). Is the cause of this bug known? can it be fixed?
