Discussion / Re: UFO: Female Invasion?
« on: March 22, 2010, 03:33:51 am »
there has been some progress in medicine and switching gender is a lot easier, so you do not know which soldier was born male or female.
so it does not matter if male and female soldier stats should be the same or not.
how long have you lived without switching gender? boring, isn't it?

some people just cant make up thier minds.

But physiologically, men devlop muscle mass faster than women, among other things, thanks to the whole hormone thing (Testosterone vs Estrogen), so when someone says "Female soldiers should be the same as male soldiers! FLAME FLAME FLAME", I say "No. Science, current real science, says no. Go cry now.", and training to same standards does not mean that they will reach the same standards. Development differes on more than just gender.

Not sexist, just get tired of these kinds of arguments

I dont think this was an oversight. While yes, it can be a pain, I think its a good idea.

We all know everyone here loves UFO:AI, and theres enough stuff that an online game could be made
Thats what I'd like to do (Since Destructovator has animation fairly well covered). I have a server, I have a game engine, so all I need are the resources

Windows / Re: Shevaar and Taman

Aww, that's adorable.  The only thing that'd be cuter would be to hit and kill them both with a grenade.

HAHAHA!! Oh, so true! I guess they passed inter-species marriage rights

If people want this to come out sooner, do more than just play it.

Artwork / Re: Another try at a (muscular) new soldier model

Yeah, looks good.
But I think that both models (stocky and thin) could come in handy, give some diversity to the soldiers; Not all soldiers are built like tanks (heh, a silly)

Windows / Re: Win32 Development Binary Installer Links
« on: February 08, 2010, 11:28:13 pm »
Oh dear. I've just installed this build over the previous one supplied and it's removed all my previous saves. This didn't happen when installing the 28338 build over the 28213. Luckily I had my latest save backed up in a bug report. Anyone installing may want to do likewise.

To my understanding, starting anew is better. Something about problems with previous versions being carried to the newer version

Artwork / Re: Could we use something like this?

Another thing to think about is this: Movies as textures. I know how to work it in Maya, and someone that was in my animation class who used Blender as their main program said that it was also possible in Blender. I think this was discussed somewhere else here, as the point of animated advertisements came up. It could also be used for computer screens, etc.

This is a general note: My college classes started (Actually started Monday), so what time I had is now whittled down even further. Destructavator has show he can do stuff, so Im not worried about the new models being put on hold.
Destructavator, when you want me to check the animations, I'll be sure to put some time aside, watch it, and tell ya what I think

Considering this is going to be on the global view, where there will be countless other polygons being rendered, lit, etc, adding more is not a good idea, especially since this is going to be an icon, of sorts. I think its good the way it is
