FAQ / Re: Base under Red Alert - bug??
« on: August 06, 2010, 10:22:34 pm »
Actually, while it is fixed, there is still the issue of how to unlock a base which has already been affected.

Sorry, but I'm buggered if I'm going to start playing the game right from the beginning when I have a kick-ass setup with 5 very well developed bases, and my "red alerted" base was only half-built when it got attacked. I'd like to bring it back into operation but right now it serves its purpose just as well as if it were a radar station!

You could always load from a previous save, until geever completes his service patch... you don't lose a lot. (depending on how often you save of course)

Revision? SaveGame?

-geever

I seem to have a problem like this too... r31272.  I can load a savegame ok, but as soon as time starts, I get assertion errors..

Feature Requests / Re: Simple Suggestions for UI Controls
« on: August 06, 2010, 11:44:45 am »
What do you think about Destructavator's suggestion? One 'E' throws a popup, another confirms the end turn on it?
-geever

Not a bad idea, but I think it's probably toffee paper really.  ::) I only occasionally use the E key anyway, and I guess lots of other players like me tend to use the mouse than the keyboard, so adding the extra keystroke(s) could be like putting too much icing on the cake. - [Just my opinion]

Artwork / Re: Tractor Upgraded

I like it too; creates a more eerie feeling.

Like something horrible happened so suddenly that everything was just left as it was in that moment.

I agree  ;) - There's a lot to be said for the atmospheric side effects.

Just wondering if there has been any progress at all with this?

'lo,

Bug NR. 2 - the classic ("No free inventory space!"):
=================================================
INVSH_AddInvList: No free inventory space!
=============================================================
However, with version 2.3, restarting the game helps (unlike 2.2).

Again, thank - and keep up the good work! 38O}

This problem already being looked at (I believe)  ;)

We don't really have time to play. :) I think none of us met the problem recently. What I see is that the console output was extended with info about free inventory slots so it's maybe a good idea uploading a fresh ufoconsole.log (with free-slot info) to the bug if you haven't done that already.

-geever

All work and no play makes for dull boys!  :D

Thank you geever - I created a new clean log and uploaded it to the tracker.  :)

From the sourceforge, it looks like you're about 700 revisions back. Do you compile yourself? If so, try recompiling. I remember talk about inventory stuff a while ago, but I'm not involved in the coding side so I can't help you.

Also, if you haven't noticed 2.3 has been branched off in the SVN, so make sure if you compile you're compiling the latest 2.3 rather than trunk.

Thanks H-Hour ;) The problem was first reported on r29535 and logged into the tracker. It still exists even though I have started afresh with a new campaign. I have 7 bases built atm and I have become used to saving before a mission - after perhaps 4 or 5 successful sorties, the error appears. If I re-load from the last save - I'm good for another 4 or 5 missions.

I'm not clever enough to do the compiling thing myself, so I use Muton's fantastic building kit.

I build pretty frequently (r30445 latest 2.4) and I d/loaded Muton's last build of 2.3 Stable too - sorry to say that the same problem is still there.  :(

I just wondered if anyone had managed to look at the problem.  ;)

Sounds and Music / Re: song for game/feedback
« on: May 28, 2010, 03:14:45 pm »
I like this Game, but the Music in this Game was a disaster. I deactivate the music as it causes physical pain.
I think this Game needs a more discreetly music, like in the UFO Enemy Unknown Game. A more ambience music.

Everyone has a preference and an opinion, but I disagree.   :( The music in this game is very good..  :o  I think you may have the right idea by suggesting a few more quieter, ambient pieces, but many game players like to listen to a wide variety of music genre as they play a game - and if it's your preference to turn it off all together - well, there is always that option anyway.  ;D :D

Hi azrael1322  :)

I just listened to your track a few times and I like it very much. At first, I wasn't too keen on the Digi piano at the very start, but it does grow on you after a few plays.

It will be nice to hear your next version with the 'loopability' applied.  ;) :D

Where is Gren ?

Hey! - I'm still around.  :D

Changed quite a few things with the final version (changed and changed again the middle section) and experimenting with mastering suite, but still not quite ready. Also, a couple of other pieces (ideas running alongside) I'm still working on.

I'm sure you will like the improvements when finished.  ;) ;D

please add your info and savegames to:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2997280&group_id=157793&atid=805242

Savegame file slot(x).lint is too large to upload.. is the xml file still of use?

Sorted - compressed the .lint file and uploaded them separately.

a way to reproduce it in a reliable way

I'm not able to identify the conditions that bring on the error - however, it doesn't seem to rely on any particular build. As it stands, If I load up this save game, I am unable to progress any further, as you can see from the screenies, even taking on the mission from different bases produces the error as soon as the mission is loaded up and the team spawn is completed.

Has anyone tried loading my savegame to test - or is that not possible?

I tried loading up from a few games before and can usually get through one or perhaps two missions, but eventually, the error re-presents itself.

Maybe it would help if I understood what "No free inventory space" means, but I'm no programmer/coder. Either way - I think it's a problem that really needs to be sorted once and for all, if possible.

Maybe a suggestion would be to re-visit the solution applied the last time the error condition was identified.  ::) ???
