I agree that small UGVs dont need VTOL to be launched, but maybe hover capacity is a must for all in-game flyers? Though given a geoscape scale, an aircraft that is shown hovering on a spot can very well circle around.

And I've seen that black dome, but didn't know if it is a camera or auxillary VTOL engine. As for sensors - maybe add something like AWACS antenna?

I was currently thinking on a scout UAV design myself, and I like this one! Would it be scout of fighter drone?

And should UAVs have VTOL capacity the same way manned aircrafts do? In this case I can suggest making tail exhaust vectored (it already looks vectored thrust anyway) and adding additional one closer to the nose part (or is there one there already?). I have F-35 schematic in mind:

As an aside, does anybody know about the "Advanced Combat Armor" in the 2.3 version?  It appears to have the exact same stats as the regular...

I think I could be nice to have even few pre-defined destructable wall sections that could be used as alternate entrances. These could be denoted by having cracks (as in Quake2) or by just having a bit weird lighting :-)
On realism subject - I've read that US troops were using sledge-hammers to make holes in stormed buildings' walls in order not to rush straight into enemy emplacements that covered entrances.

Ah, I had tactical missions in mind, providing there was a sort of hovertank in UFOpaedia. Hence the rotary-wing design that provides ability to hover and high maneurability for the sake of speed and range.
I think some fixed wing VTOL design would do much better for geoscape flyers, maybe I should redesign it?

As for other lasers - pistol and rifle have similar texture and color scheme, indeed, but heavy handheld laser shows some deviations. So I simply tried to follow the trend :-)
Anyway, I can try adding some panels with that brownish marble-like texture once I manage to make such! :-)

I took a look at the hoverbot - yep, we have similar turbofans :-)

As for fighter drone - what weapons should it carry? I dont think that a small aircraft woould efficiently use projectile weapons due to their recoil and its small weight. I am thinking of rockets or D-F laser, if the fighter craft is developed in the later stages.

The ballons and front were supposed to be silvery :-) Like they are made of unpainted polished metal. It might be more obvious from this angle:


Anyway, I remade the texture to look more brownish, even given the muzzle the brownish tint, so it looks bronze now. Feedback is welcome as always!
