Bugs prior to release 2.3 / the 'Invisible Beach Chair' Glitch

I keep having a (if somewhat minor) Graphics glitch with the altHUD which has been quite amusing, yet slightly worrying at the same time.

I'v called it the 'Invisible Beach Chair' Glitch because sometimes, the Actors in the Character portrait box seem to look like their sitting down on a invisible chair with one leg slightly up, their arms behind head and their head tilted back. It only happens in the altHUD, since its the only one with a full sized character protrait box and looks like a forgotten animation or something that wasn't removed.




Now that I think of it, I REALLY should take a screen shot of it next time it happens...

Ill give you a hint anygame made for windows 95 or atleast before windows 98 came out wont work for windows 7 games made for windows 98 and up work on it go look up when it was realesed and think if it will work because i dont want to look it up

UNLESS you PATCH it or use windows built in COMPATIBILITY system.  ;)

is UFO: AI made for the Q2 engine or is it a little, middle, or heavily modified version?

Are far as I know, its HEAVILY modified.

Also, I don't think the engine, no matter how much you modifiy it, can handle completely destructible terrain with out lagging... yet...

just an idea, but how about just making things liked damaged or crumbling walls and such for now that can be used for destructible terrain? that is, if and when a better option comes around.

Hmm...

I don't know why, but I quite like this idea... needs a little cleaning up, and such, to make it fit with the game IMO. e.g. the aliens don't need and likely don't use computer-networks, so direct access to the system would be needed so a research option into studying a radar upgrade that alowed hacking alien computers for Info?, such as the ones on UFO's, might be interesting. perhaps providing information on the ships crew and/or the ships mission and destination?

As for discovering the secrets of replicating of particle accelerator ammo packs, and the 'hidden technologies', they are out of the question. the lac of particle gun ammo makes the game more fun, forcing them to save the ammo for one of the best weapons they own, instead of giving one to every other soldier.

right, well.

earlier today, I downloaded one of muttons builds, "ufoai-2.3-dev-29004-Debug-pentium3-O1-sse-7z-small-win32" and now every-time I try to do a mission, the game throws me out back to the geoscape and I keep getting a worrying message when ever I try to do a auto-mission.



I'm judgeing it has something to do with the civvies?

I can confirm this. I too have the same problem.

at first I thought it was some sort of plasma shotgun, but, indeed, it was a mere pistol.

this can also happen with other weapons. I'v had it happen with assault rifles too.

yeah, I have a crappy screen based microphone, a nice but cheep hand-held microphone (the one I used) and a really bad one on a headset I use for dictation software. why do you ask?
