Feature Requests / Alien Reinforcements

Suggestion for more varied missions: enemy reinforcements/rescue. 

As it is, there is an unlimited number of turns for a mission.  Enemy reinforcements arriving after some time (say 20 turns) would add a little pressure to the mission.  Alien commanders could get rescued before they get captured, making capture missions more difficult.  This could also add another layer to strategy.  Waiting for alien reinforcements and try to ambush them in order to gain more alien tech or capture a ship (the reinforcements dont simply just appear from nowhere).  Of course this is pretty damn risky, but would be very cool.

It's logical as well, i mean, you would send troops to rescue a valuable commander or team that crashed right?

Since the 25mm plasma grenade is researchable, why not a 25mm gas grenade for the grenade launcher?  It's a logical progression from the gas grenade and makes the grenade launcher more useful.

i was wondering if they work and if so, how to use them.  By the way whats the "extension" slot next to head gear slot in the equipment screen?  I cant seem to put anything in it.

Could the devs make a grenade-like device (thrown) that would provide vision in an area?  It would be great to be able to toss one in a room (or on top of a building) to check if I'm about to grenade a civilian instead of an alien.  Plus it would make sweeping the map for that one last alien easier.  Your troops could drop one every now and then for "cleared" areas to save time backtracking.  It would also make it more difficult for aliens to sneak up on your troops when advancing or sniping.  The device wouldn't need to last long (a few rounds) and only provide vision in a area a bit bigger than a plasma grenade or flashbang.

Feature Requests / New (Bolt) Sniper Rifle

I know the Bolt Rifle and the Particle Beam Rifle have a sniper mode, but a new dedicated sniper rifle would be nice.  Both sniper modes take up more TU's than the basic sniper rifle and have less range.  Late game, I find the laser rifle pretty much obsoletes my snipers.  I normally include 1-2 snipers per mission and they generally have great stats by the time I get to particle beam weapons.  I'd feel bad about wasting them by retiring them and it takes too long to retrain them on other weapons.

So why don't I just give them particle beam rifles? Cuz i'm always low on ammo since my assault (4-5 per mission) troops are equipped with particle rifles.  I know that sounds like a crap excuse but since you can't produce more particle ammo, I keep using the basic sniper rifle which becomes less and less effective.

A solution could be to have the Bolt Rifle research unlock the Bolt Sniper Rifle research.  The rifle would use the same ammo, but do slightly more damage than the basic sniper rifle (120 for a snap shot) and have similar firing modes as the basic sniper rifle but use more TU's.  Plus, this makes the bolt weapon research have more use since Bolt Rifles are kinda crap compared to the laser weapons.

Feature Requests / Suppression fire Mode for the Machine Gun

I'm not sure if alien morale has been implemented or not, but a suppression fire mode (10-20 round usage) on the machine gun would be nice.  It wouldn't need to have a lot of accuracy or health damage, just morale damage.  Or maybe it would alter alien AI to move less if they have been shot at.  One of the main points of having a machine gun is lay down bursts of suppressive fire to keep (smart) enemy soldiers from charging your position.  Right now the machine gun is just a really big assault rifle.

Feature Requests / Morale Bar

I was wondering if a morale bar could be included under the health bar.  I know the morale is shown by a number, but it's hard to tell if it went up or down.  It's a lot easier to keep track of it with a bar display like health and TU.
