Discussion / Now that strength stat matters

How much does it matter? Are there any concrete numbers that can be given for how much strength you need to equip various weapons and armor without losing TUs?

Discussion / How do you take apart UFOs?

I've never been able to figure it out. I know that you're supposed to do it with production crews, but I've never found out how to make them start taking apart a UFO. I am sure I am being quite obtuse, but I would appreciate a simple how to.

Amongst some other changes for after 2.4, I am considering changing the Plasma Blaster to a close-skill weapon with high damage, very low accuracy, to be a kind of shotgun-like mid-game weapon for close specialists.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea. Other than the flamethrower, most extreme up close weapons get outclassed the instant aliens start wearing armor.

Tried to log into the lobby a few times, but no one is ever home. Is multiplayer totally dead?

Out of all the ideas discussed here, the one for an alien sniper seems the most well thought out and most needed. Long range sniping is where humans utterly dominate, especially with laser weapons. Having these guys pop up in the last third of the game would suddenly make taking cover and flushing out sniper positions quite important indeed.
