Bugs prior to release 2.4 / Is requiring "alien materials" for composite armor a bug?

Hey All,
I notice that researching the alien armor gives you the option of researching then constructing composite armor; but the concurrent production requires "alien materials". Nothing in the research briefing or report indicates that would be the case (they mainly talk about techniques for manufacturing carbon nanotubes for it). I suspect that "alien materials" will show up in another research branch, but I was wondering if it would be worth reporting as a bug, a suggestion to change the research briefing, or if this is working as intended.
