Hi,
I'm new to this forum.

yesterday I found this version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ufoai/files/
                                                  (including .deb files for Debian/Ubuntu)
BUT:
1) There are several .deb files to be installed, not only the one behind the green download button.
2) It didn't work for me on Ubuntu 10.4 (Lenovo N 500 laptop with Intel grafics)
  - something with GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest when starting the game
