I started a mission which is, I think, labeled as "lake ice big" with my Raptor, but instead of the raptor, I had a firebird in this mission. See savegame.

Thats already fixed in master. But, again, it was too late for 2.4. :(
-
Well, such fixes should be landed to 2.4.1.

I wonder when Flight 2.4.1 will arrive at airport Sourceforge :D

Yes. Otherwise: why is there even a 2.4 bug forum?

If you notice something in 2.4, please keep reporting. If it is already fixed/reported, nobody will loose something.

I'd bet more people play the stable releases than dev versions, so more "testers" to find problems?
Do we have numbers on how many times the game has been downloaded? From different sources, like playdeb?

2.4 Win32 downloads from sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ufoai/files/UFO_AI%202.x/2.4/ufoai-2.4-win32.exe/stats/timeline?dates=2012-04-17+to+2012-05-23) 13,783
2.4 MacOSX downloads from sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ufoai/files/UFO_AI%202.x/2.4/ufoai-2.4-macosx-i386.dmg/stats/timeline?dates=2012-04-17+to+2012-05-23) 2,211
Of course, this doesn't include downloads from other websites (like playdeb, but we're also on several gaming downloads sites), our Desura profile (http://www.desura.com/games/ufo-alien-invasion), those compiling directly from source, those downloading in non-windows/Mac environments, etc.
And the nice thing about a free game is that we tend to get steady downloads throughout the life of a release. For instance, check out our 2.3.1 win32 downloads from sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ufoai/files/UFO_AI%202.x/2.3.1/ufoai-2.3.1-win32.exe/stats/timeline?dates=2010-10-01+to+2012-05-23) (140,269). Another 122,840 for 2.3 win32 (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ufoai/files/UFO_AI%202.x/2.3/ufoai-2.3-win32.exe/stats/timeline?dates=2010-05-17+to+2012-05-23).
2.3 peaked at 15,700 in one month, though. So far our top month for 2.4 is 4,500. I suspect our write-up in paperrockshotgun.com contributed to our high 2.3 numbers.
